So......I was thinking that I would be environmentally-friendly for Roo, and go ahead and spend big bucks on Energizer rechargeable batteries ($10 for each 2-pack of D cells--8 batteries required--that's $40).
Huge mistake!
I did a test-run on the battery-operated fan that most people on Inforoo have read about by now (available at WalMart), and it only lasted for about 4-5 hours!!! And of course it will be impossible to recharge those puppies down there. And there is no way in Hell I'm gonna drop another $40 x 3 = $120 for 3 more sets of 8 batteries.
Looks like I'm gonna have to give in, and buy the mega-box of the disposables. I think the rechargeables might be better suited for my boombox, esp. if I stick to playing the radio over CD's.
Just confirmed what a number of folks have said on here.......bring plenty of batteries!
I really just have rechargeables for things like my camera and the Wii. I bought regular batteries for our Coleman air mattress and my paper lanterns today.
Also, there's different like wattages and stuff for rechargeables. The ones that are packaged with the recharger, if anything like mine, are the lower powered ones. I bought a 2nd pack that was like double the power or something.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

I use rechargable AA batteries for my camera and just charge them using an acdc convereter for my car. Wal mart has heavy duty four packs of d cells For $1 that seem to work fine.
I have the Coleman fan that runs on one D battery (the one with the magnetic base). Last year at Coachella I got three nights use out of one battery and fired it up again this morning with still some life in the same battery.

Yeah....I have the O2 Cool fan that runs on 8 D cells (so it's pretty powerful when it's running). But the Energizer rechargeables (which I assume would be the best out there) only lasted 5 hours. So it's disposables for me.......
Rechargeables work great for me in my digital camera. I just got some new ones with a new chargers at BJs wholesale club for around $25. Comes with 6 AA batteries and 2 AAA batteries. They are the higher power ones too.
Rechargeables are only good for something like 100 or so charges. But what I found is that my charger is an Energizer and the rechargables I had bought were Duracell. I don't know if they have different methods of charging, or if the Energizer charger was only compatable with the lower capacity Energizer batteries (which didn't run my camera so well)
So I bought the whole new set and we're going to try those out.
I also bought a TON of D batteries and AA batteries, so if you run out you can come borrow some.
