I built a pretty nice, sturdy PVC pipe flagpole and now I need to know the best way to get the pipe in the ground. Can everyone who set up their own flags in years past give me a little insight on this?

I have the bottom of the pipe cut at a 45 degree angle so I can hammer and twist the bottom section into the ground. It needs to go pretty deep to support the pole in the breeze.
Last year the ground was too hard so we lashed the flagpole to a pole on our gazebo. That worked really well.
I made that pole too and have had it sitting in my back yard for about a week to test it, and we have had a couple of storms and its worked out great. I used the guide that you can find around here. I hammered the 1 1/4 pipe into the ground about 2 ft.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I have a stake that I drive into the ground near the passenger side front wheel of my van, set the PVC flagpole on top of and then lash the flagpole itself to the passenger side mirror. It stays put in any weather.

My plan for a flag pole is to take 3 10' sections of 1" > 3/4" > 1/2" and to add a wooden dowel in the 1/2" section for rigidity. Instead of driving it into the ground, I'm going to ziptie it to the ezUp and stake the hell out of it. The problem I'm having, is that I have to create a pulley system because I have 24' of blue pulsating rope light that I have to be able to raise/lower to turn on and off....suggestions??

i just tied an unfinished hippy shirt my wife was making to the end of my 12 foot big game fishing pole and plan on duct taping it to the side of our rental van. Ghetto or Genius??
