Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The shade tent I had for Bonnaroo that I let my buddy borrow is now wrecked (long story). I am flying down solo this year and I don't have the money to buy another one. I figured I'd buy a tarp and some kind of pole and make something to keep the sun off my tent and maybe pop up a chair and relax. I will be in tent only, so I'm having a tough time figuring out how I'll set up a pole that wont fall over.
here's a suggestion - don't bother! tarp/pole contraptions just end up being a headache, if you're camping in tent only just set up your tent near someone else's shade... people always congregate under one anyway, cause not everyone can bring them, especially if they are flying.
there will be lots of people willing to share shade
edit: oops, just re-read and saw that you wanted it OVER your tent - yeah... you really don't need it - unless you're planning on hanging out in your tent during the day (unlikely) you should be fine. it's hard enough trying to get all the stuff you actually need to fit on the plane!

I'm flying too, and I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how set up some shade. Finally I realized that I could probably cozy up to someone else with shade or just hang out at one of the tents in centeroo. I decided against a chair too. I like to travel comfortably, and I don't really like dragging all kinds of stuff with me. I'm not sure if this helps you athompson, but you'll be alright. Everybody at Roo is always willing share whatever they can.
Stop by the Helping Hands Area. There will probably be extra atrps, etc. to borrow if you need it. I'm gonna try and make extra shade for people in your situation. We may even have an extra canopy for borrowing.

I just bought a big cheap canopy for myself, but it was too much of a hassle and took up to much room with the ropes and poles. If we just hoisted it up using some peoples tents then I might actually bring it and make some use out of it. We had a makeshift village last year, so lemme know ^_~
