A buddy of mine that is flying to Bonnaroo is going to camp in camping only. He thinks if he gets there early enough he will pitch his tent under shade trees. How realistic is this?

Are you guys serious? No trees? Maybe my buddy should rethink this. I have two silver 8 feet by 10 feet tarps, three beach umbrellas and a fan. I also have a pickup truck which I'm going to turn into a large tent with 1.25s and tarps. Maybe he would be better off camping at my site?

Don't know.....guess there weren't to many other 700 acre farms in rural towns that wanted 80,000+ people invading their lives every year for 5 days. I would think if it was wooded they woudl need way more than 700 acres as the trees would take up a lot of space.
The trees decided not to buy tickets, so they were cut down. They tried to get them to "leave" quitely, but they were "rooted" firmly in their positions.

Good Reason! I wasn't dissing Roo just wondering.

It's cool After I read my posts.....I didn't mean to come off like that!! I was just trying to say I think they had to take whatever they could find. Also, I really don't think they had any idea it would turn into the Juggernaut it has become!! ;D

'Roo is a big grassy parking lot. The only trees are around the edges of the parking areas.
EDIT: tent-only is on the left side of this pic and to the right of the road (VIP is to the left of the road), and the main stage is just to the left of VIP.
last year was my first and i about flipped when i heard there were no trees. i'm really hot-natured and sweat/get overheated easily. i just brought water bottles, wore a hat, and carried around a battery-operated fan and was okay. oh, and set up tarps or get one of those canopies -- that'll give you a bit o' shade in the mornings. that and a camping fan give you another hour or two of sleep.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

The trees are where the ticks and chiggers are, and people pee n poop, I would avoid them, i have learned this after having my stuff peed on by drunk w00ks too many times.
I believe there is only ONE shade tree on the whole frickin' farm, and I camped under it last year... waaaaaaay out in BFE. I might go visit it this year just because it was my best friend ;D

Now that A.C. bought the farm, they should at least plant a few trees. The only problem with that is with all the activity going on, they would need to be well protected while young.

They should plant trees so when my kids are old enough to go (because I am sure they will have excellent taste in music) I can say "Back in my day Bonnaroo didnt have trees for shade....we sweltered in the 110 degree heat for 4 days....hell even at night the sun was still out".....ah 36 hours til I leave
