I know it's here somehwere but I couldn't find it, the bonnaroo site says no more than 2 1.75 liters of hard liquor, also no more than 3 cases per person. Is this an either/or thing, or could you bring both (like a combination of the two). Sorry to bother people.
Post by Sköldpadda on Jun 12, 2007 16:45:47 GMT -5
I'm pretty sure it's three cases and two half gallons per person, which is cool, because there's no way you could drink all that in a weekend (if you can, I fear you).
Post by strumntheguitar on Jun 12, 2007 16:55:42 GMT -5
Yeah it's both.
and oopskillednana, I could drink both in a thurs-sun timeframe... but there's too many other things to be doing at Roo to do it. Plus, I wouldn't mind remembering the weekend either

I'm a heavy drinker, but I don't think I could do that...I might be physically able to do it, but it doesn't sound like fun. And yeah, you're totally right, either way it wouldn't make sense to do it at Bonnaroo, when there are so many other things to do.

My crew and I werent 21 last year.. and they looked through the stuff..and didnt say a word about it. And one of my friends looks like a toddler..so you should be all right

^^same experience here. None of us were 21, the guy opened our trunk, saw 9 cases of beer, looked in the car and saw 2 guys and 1 girl, all under 21, smiled and said "well... looks like you all are gonna have a fun weekend. Maybe I should pay attention to where you all set up camp!"
Problem is, the more that becomes a publicized thing, the more Their liability grows. Pretty soon a couple jokers show up, get in like you(collective) said, and chug a bottle of firewater in 100 degree heat. And then keel over. All of a sudden, someone's mama wants to know why superfly provided a haven for her baby to die.
People oughta ask themselves whether it's better to give encouragement to a stranger online, or risk losing what they love soooo much in TN.
I guess it's bound to happen anyway. Just gonna get there much quicker if newbies find it on INFOROO, the source for all things Bonnaroo.
I, for one, find a bit of discretion goes a long way. Especially when advising youngsters where they can easily get their drink on.
Not everyone can handle themselves like y'all can.

I guess a less preachy way of saying it-" It's often better to ask for forgiveness afterward, rather than permission beforehand. "
Or a harsher way- " How the hell did I get away with everything I did prior to the existence of the internets ?"
Every time I see a published stealth technique, I cringe a little for the kidz who COULD keep a secret, or at least take matters into their own hands.
When u r busted on the sidelines because of the liability of ownership(see the Rave and crackhouse statutes), doesn't matter how cool you were on some messageboard. AND, it's not just you who will suffer. Talk to some of the folks who got their info from the net on JamCruise a couple years back if'n you're not yet a believer.
People are responsible for their own actions, but I agree that it's best not to advise those under 21 about how to procure and/or sneak in alcohol. Ditto on that JamCruise topic. I read about that recently.

ugghhh i was wondering if my question wouldbring responses like that
i understand ur concern n caution for the reputation n dignity of Bonnaroo and Inforoo, and the safety of those attending roo,
im not looking to load up my car with every hard liquor i can get my hands on and be wasted every second of the weekend
im not a huge drinker, just thinking of bring a case or two or watever
and as for being a newbie to here we all gotta start sometime/where u all were once newbies as well
Ahh - we welcome newbies and I don't think anyone was being harse with you personally - just a conversation about the perils and pitfalls of divulging too much information via the internet.
Hey Snoochie - I too wonder how I got away with what I did before the internet!
yeah dude. nuthin' personal at all. i'd wanna know too.
that's just the sort of question that you PM someone after hangin' around long enough to get to know someone.
you put it out in public and it's just another liability for the folks who are puttin' it on the line for your good time.
and the rest of ours for that matter.
it's all good. 'til it getz all effed up.
Meg-you're showing your age by admitting life before the internet. I really feel old when i admit that I graduated college before there was an internet !!!

I honestly didnt think about it. I actually never thought of it like that..I guess I thought everybody was responsible as I was. Last year at Roo' I took three cases of beer. Probably ended up drinking about 12 of mine that I brought. Used most of the others to make friends/my friends drink a lot more than I do.

I would also like to extend a welcome to this year's crop of newbies. The people here have been extremely helpful to me and my girlfriend over the past few years, both by providing important tips and information as well as reminding us that "they" do watch us....especially from December on. You'll notice, as Roo gets closer and closer, that the mods (and other long-timers) become VERY vigilant about maintaining a respectable, responsible and "them-friendly" forum. It's never meant to be anything negative or personal. It's just better to play it safe when it comes to certain things. I agree with my man Snoochie about hanging-out, getting a good rapport going with some of the more experienced folks and PMing them with ANY question that pops into your head. You'll find that the vast majority of Inforoosters are incredibly cool people who are more than eager to help you out.
Again, WECOME ABOARD!
-Josh

I don't know if it was said like this already, but just be careful.
Whether you're 10 or 70, lightweight or able to drink anyone under the table, Bonnaroo is a waaaaay different environment than you're used to. Add alcohol to that, and you need to really be aware of what you're doing. The sun and heat intensify everything...to be completely honest, Bonnaroo really isn't all that exciting a place to drink. Trust me. You probably won't feel like drinking a lot while you're there.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't get so carried away with the fact that you're "able" to drink and you're underage, that you forget to take care of yourself and keep in mind that Bonnaroo is hard on your body even without anything "extra" in it.
mmm i figured id keep the drinking confined to my tent area,i dont like wandering around drunk in places i have pretty much no idea. especially like u said in the intense heat, thats definitly not my thing
i thot itd be nice to be able to come back to ur spot at night after a long day and crack a few open yanno wat im sayin
