Camel bak and powdered gatorade were a life saver, literally I think. During the slip i almost drank a full 2 liters. An ice cold towel wrapped around my head was key too.

Yeah the late night atmosphere defiently rocks. I got it down to a science everyday taking naps under a tree, going to the Air Conditioned movie tent, and packing a crap ton of water bottles in a back pack. I probably spent a a total of two hours at our campsite the entire weekend. This was my first year so my unjaded sensibilities were too busy soaking in all the sights and sounds of centeroo to sit idle at camp.
I guess I'm the obscure third party of sandal wearer. I had one pair of Reefs do the trick all four days.
Mist bottles are a must!! Will bring many next year!! Brought too much food this year...and too much water...but the water held out well and stayed frozen/cold so I won't complain! As for the extra key thing - go for a lock box next year - worked great for us! Will def always do an RV - had AC and got to sleep in as long as we wanted....and showers and private bathrooms...I did pretty well for my first 'Roo bouncing between RV/press tent/centeroo - managed to leave around 10 am and stay out until 3-4 am every morning, with usually one trip back to the camper around 3 or 4 pm to freshen up and rest for an hour or 2 (some days longer depending on the schedule!) before heading back to Centeroo and the action.....Sat didn't make it back AT ALL....
Admittedly, having access to AC (in the RV and the Press Tent) makes a HUGE diff in how you feel somewhere around 11 pm....

I learned a whhhhhhole lot this being my first roo and whatnot. But i think one of the best things i learned was that wrapping ice up in a bandana and putting it inside my floppy hat does wonders for stamina....as well as taking baby wipes to centeroo and washing off my feet during the day. I also learned that if it weren't for all you guys pre-roo I would have not had such an awesome time. I can't show enough appreciation for all you wonderful people ;D

My thoughts exactly. I read a lot about people just showing up at Bonnaroo with hardly any supplies except for what they grabbed at Walmart at the last minute. All the info I found here helped me to thoughtfully prepare and have a really great experience.

Most definitely. I was terrified that I wouldn't have an enjoyable experience because of the situation I went with and because i was going into it half-blind. But it was awesome. A couple friends of mine went last year because they were given tickets that wednesday before 'roo and they went and got a tent, some water, and some sandwich stuff and that was it and they were basically ass raped all weekend....so yeah, God bless the Flaming Lips......and the wonderful people of Inforoo

Yeah, I learned that lighting charcoal in between 4 tents during a drought is damn risky. We brought kabobs for Friday's dinner, lit the grill and then PRAYED that the wind wouldn't whip the flames somewhere bad (damn, they were BIG!). Thankfully, everything turned out fine and the kabobs were really good. Lesson: Forget the grill, pack more pasta salad instead.
the grill is very Important, I brought a small one this year, and it was a hit. I love to grill while knocking back cold ones at camp before heading to centeroo.
I'm one of the few flip flop wearers too! Last year I used the $3 Old Navy's, this year $7/8 Target's. Both worked fine, but I think the Old Navy ones had a bit more support. Next year I'd like to get a pair of Reefs maybe the "stash" kind. My heels hurt a little this year but nothing that didn't go away with a short sit-down.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this; bring a mallet/rubber hammer for your tent stakes!!! The ground was so solid thankfully our neighbors had one and helped us out!
Shade for your tent and around it is a must. Last year we had no shade over our tent, this time, a small shade tent, but that left us with a very small area to hang outside of the tent. I saw one couple with a huge blue shade tent and thought it was ridiculous for two people, but now I think I would do the same.
A fan for your tent - we bought a fan you could charge in your car, it worked great for that point in the morning where the heat starts to set in, but you just want a few more minutes of rest!
For girls, (and guys if you're daring! ) - wear light-weight dresses!! so much easier than a skirt/shorts and a top, and they keep you nice and cool.
If you're a bit over-weight, try and loose some pounds for 'Roo. Since last year's 'Roo, both my boyfriend and I had lost around 10-20 lbs each. This 'Roo, We had WAY more energy than last year.

1. Get some moccasins. They have all sorts that fit to your foot and fray naturally at Dicks Sporting Goods. They are about 30-50 bucks but they are totally worth it.
2. Bring a canteen. Fill it with cold water at the beginning of the day, and you're set. They sell the ones with shoulder straps that are just perfect for Roo.
3. From 8am - 2pm take a nap under a shadetree, with lunch somewhere in there.
4. See some tent shows until it cools off.
5. Grab some pizza, burger, or something, and rock out to the headliner and late night.
6. Collapse in your tent until the sun wakes you up.

I learned to not bring so much food. Those one dollar garlic grilled cheese sandwiches will suffice.
Absolutely correct. We day parked and drove home every night and the only food we bought with us was granola bars. We barely spent any money on food because it was too hot to really eat that much.

AND you need to take people you're going to have a good time with. That almost ruined my trip last year.... and that could be taken in two different ways.

I've been to Bonnaroo twice and Austin City Limits once. I still don't pace myself. I know how to and I understand it, but I just love music way too much. From the time the music starts and until it ends, I don't want to miss any bands, cause there are so many great bands I want to see, and at these festivals, most of these bands are playing to the biggest crowds of their careers and I think that makes it better. This past year at Bonnaroo I saw 42 bands. A lot of them I only caught 1 or 2 songs. Those were mostly bands that were new to me. The bands that I like a little, I saw a little more, and the bands I love I stayed for most or all of the sets, with the exception of the Flaming Lips, Gov't Mule, White Stripes and Panic, because it was basically non-stop for me. I'm constantly on the move, and I stand most of the time. I know I'm allowed to sit down and chill out, I just can't make myself do it. With ACL its a little different cause the music ends at 10 pm, however there are after shows, and I remember at ACL 06, after Van Morrison, it took me an hour to get from the park back to my hotel in downtown. I was on 15th Street, and that walk alone almost killed me. The nice thing was being able to stay in a hotel. Thats why I love ACL, even though I still love Bonnaroo. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the real latenights at Bonnaroo. I just like the daytime more for some reason. I think that mostly has to do with the fact that I was tripping at night and I don't really like it, but I guess I'm weak, but part of me wants to do it, but then I regret it once it kicks in. Bonnaroo just feels different at night when you're tripping. But I like Bonnaroo cause you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, even though the express way and the city aren't very far at all. I think these are the 2 best festivals for me, and I will continue to go to both as long as they are running. As far as the music goes, I love most music, I'm not big on rap and country, and that's about it. And to whoever started these great festivals, thank you so much for exposing me to so many great bands and good times. These festivals are the highlights of my year. They are really the only things I ever look forward to in life.
1. I wish I had stayed up late leading up to Roo. I go to bed pretty early, so I was tired as hell late night at Roo. That sucked. 2. I left my sneakers untied on the first day to let my feet breathe, and I got huge blisters. Bad move. 3. I had bandanas, but no big-brimmed hat. Another bad move. My neck got brutalized by the sun. 4. I had plenty of water, but no mister bottle. That would have been key. 5. I brought sun screen, but not enough. 6. My campsite was very basic, but I should have made it a little more "homey": chairs, maybe a table, a sun tent. That's about it. I had a good time, but with a few changes, it could have been a great time.
I learned that people with spray bottles randomly spraying people as they walk through centeroo and the crowds at concerts are my new favorite people in the world. I offered every single one of them a beer or two
Dammit, I must not have seen you... My wife and I were walking around spraying people with Super Soakers all weekend.
