I have been looking into this and found most of the true RVs, even small ones, (not popups) tend to run nearly $1,000 for the festi days after all the fees and taxes, even for a relatively small one. Trailers are a bit cheaper and the popup trailers run much less but don't seem to be much better than a tent if you dont have a generator or power hookups. I am seriously considering just buying a small used travel trailer for under $5,000 instead. Our station wagon can tow one comfortable for 2-4 people or so without trouble. If we can take it to a few festivals a year and save a decent chunk of money over hotel on some other trips, it might be worth it. Especially if it lasts a few years without needing any major work. Plus it would mean we could cook our own food and that would make our lives easier as we have somewhat restrictive dietary habits.

I used El Monte (in part because they had a rental place near me) and I was VERY pleased with everything. We had borrowed a friend's camper in the past and this was MUCH less a headache (because of everything El Monte has built into their RV's like super-efficient and quiet generators, emergency battery starts, etc). It was almost two grand for the full C28 rental for 6 nights, but we split that 4 ways. Totally worth it.
I have rented from Cruise America the last four years. After mileage, gas, generator use, etc., it ends up costing about $1300-1500 for the weekend. I pick it up on Thursday and return it on Monday. I split the cost between four or five people. It's totally worth the money.
