Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Just saw a commercial for Old Navy. They're going to have summer dresses on sale, this Saturday only. I think it said starting at $9 but not positive, I walked in at the last part. I definitely wanna check them out for Roo. Thought I would let you ladies know!
I note on those giant floppy hats. I've never worn mine like that to a festival, but at home, it flops in my face a lot. It's also a biznatch in the wind. I suggest getting a hat pin to hold the brim back.
Hey everyone! I've been lurking for awhile and decided to come out of hiding. Right now I'm a bonnaroo virgin, but I'm super excited to change that!
Anyways, straight to business. I really like the floppy hat style, and I've seen some affordable ones at target, but I'm concerned that they won't be practical at bonnaroo. Has anyone else had any experience with them?
^^^as far as hats go, here is what i can say about my experience. i desperately wanted to wear a cute hat at bonnaroo and be a hat kind of girl. every year i've bought a new one, thinking this is the year i will wear my hat. and i never do. i never wear hats in regular life and i just found the hat to be too much of a burden. i wasn't used to it, and i just thought it made my head feel hot. therefore, i go sans hat (just don't forget to put sunscreen in your part!).
It's cute but it doesn't have a very big brim. You kind of need that to keep the sun off your shoulders and face.
Yeah, I kept going back & forth on that too. I have a wide brim straw hat I use at the beach & it's so floppy I'm afraid it will get on my last nerve. I'll bring it too though. Maybe I should try the starch trick on it.
You should come to the brunch - there will be quite a few of us GFT-er's there. Bring your brother too! Is he an eligible bachelor? Sorry I had to ask!<3
Thanks Mayo! This thread is priceless & I so hope to meet y'all there. And yes, my brother is single & I would LOVE to be a matchmaker at Bonnaroo! He turns 30 on 6/6. He is a chef at a New Orleans style cafe in Mississippi. He's a cool guy, super nice & cute too. And how cool is it that we are both going to our 1st Roo together! I'm leaving my hubby & 3 kids at home to hang with my little brother, make some new friends, & hear some awesome music!!!
I'd love a button. Do I pm you my address? Thanks so much!!!
Yes! PM me your address, and Ill send you one. I have a new batch of girls to send to, so I'll be sending them tomorrow or monday. About your bro - YESSSS!!! LOL - Im 31, and I live in GA with no intentions of moving soon, but if you dont mind, it'd be nice to meet a nice cute boy at Roo to have someone to flirt with! Im normal - JHo, Holls, Dani and several other of the GFT's can vouch for my normal-ness.
I just had them made up bc I love this thread, and all the love and kindness and knowledge we share here! So - if you want one - please PM me your address. No Money required! Payment = Hugs at the Brunch
Just for some extra crafting for all those crafty chicks out there.
And finally - I plan on ordering some socks from Sock Dreams. Dani - Im doing it, Im getting them, and then when we land in PDX, it's highly likely you'll have to take me there. ....so i can ruin my bank account in person.

I love it when we bring out the lurkers <3 Welcom to the GFT Quack! I love that your name is "quack duck"... and quack is the replacement word on Inforoo for the "F" word (a-woo-woo, the F word!) ..... im giggling in my office right now.

Hey all, I'm new, too! I've made a massive list of things to buy/bring just from reading back a dozen pages or so. My boyfriend has been going to Roo for several years and this is my first time going with him. So here's my question: Do you gals shower? The fella says he never does and that if I do so, it's $7 or something. I'm not worried about foregoing makeup and such, but I'm not a fan of being stinky and would like at least one rinse that weekend...Please share your wisdom!

The problem with the showers is the wait. You will be in line a looooong time. you have a couple other options. I just baby wipe myself daily and use a waterless shampoo. There are also water trucks with sinks where you can kind of sponge bathe yourself. These often have lines, too, but not as bad as the showers. Or you can bring a camp shower and clean up at camp - www.amazon.com/Coleman-5-Gallon-PVC-Camp-Shower/dp/B0009PUT20/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299792937&sr=8-1
Sponge baths are key. I bring a big plastic cup so I can really rinse my hair. A kid's sand bucket also makes a great trough-caddy.
Also, I highly recommend that if you wake up too early, to go and wash up and then go back to sleep. The lines get longer as the morning progresses (though they go back down in the afternoon).

Yeah, I've never actually showered at Roo. Washing up at the troughs / with a bucket / baby wipe baths / etc work just fine for me.
By the way, I had a Bonnaroo dream last night (a pretty common occurrence) and mayo - you costarred in my dream! We were wandering around Roo together...there was a lot of weird stuff there, like I'm pretty sure there were rides. And a water balloon slingshot fight place. And Ghostface Killah was playing. And then we decided to visit the bathroom, which was like a real bathroom with multiple stalls and everything. And the toilets were like...chemical toilets of some sort but they actually flushed, idk. BUT ANYWAY, when I went to flush the toilet there were two buttons, and a little sign that basically said one button was to leave it looking like it did when you came in, the other was to just flush it. So I pushed the first button and it flushed and then a freaking GEYSER erupted out of the toilet and head to toe soaked me. My clothes were completely soaked, as were the various rolls of TP and paper towels and stuff that were in there. So I'm frantically clawing at the stall door trying to get out and away from the geyser and mayo hears me yelling and comes to see what's going on...so by the time I get the door open she's standing right there and I think I just cried "CHRISTIIIIINE I HAD A PROBLEM." ;D
Yeah, that was entirely unrelated to fashion...sorry. But I thought you all might be amused by my Roo-dream.

I've been going since 2006 and never showered there. I just use wipes for my body and wash my hair at the water troughs if it feels gross. Even by Sunday night, I don't smell bad, but I do feel pretty nasty by that point

Thanks! I have pretty long hair so I think the bucket rinse will absolutely be happening.
I read earlier about wearing mesh headbands--I always have trouble keeping stretchy headbands on my head :-P But, then, the ones that have non-slip strips on them tend to be too tight! Has anyone found any good headbands that don't slip but go all the way around the head? (I have those weird short hairs that grow at the base of my neck. Probbbably because I straightened my hair too much for years and the poor little hairs are just broken!)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my tights from them! I need to get a pic up. They are pretty good about describing which ones roll etc... mine roll a little right now, cuz I'm up towards the recommended "max weight" but nothing a garter belt doesn't cure
Will definitely be ordering a few more
* i see me trying to shorten your words didn't turn out to well

I have super thick long hair, along with the little curlies at the base of my neck, I found the best that worked for me, was basically braids with a bandana. Also just using a gallon of water & a washcloth at your camp can be as refreshing as a 'shower'
I plan on leaving baby wipes, aloe vera, and sunblock in the cooler. Cold aloe vera on a burn is about as soothing as it gets, haha.
Take the sunblock with you!! The goal is to have no burn!!! You do not want to be in the sun for a couple days with a massive burn....that would be no-fun-aroo

Oh definitely! I have a travel size one that didn't even get to utilize on my cruise.
It's really not fashion but any tips on bug spray? I'm used to mosquitos up here when I'm camping but I've never had to deal with much more, so any tips you can give I'd appreciate!
Is white a terrible idea? I love it on and feel like some New York diva with it and my bug-eye sunglasses haha! Got to be careful and not wear it with my white sundress or it's going to look like Easter Sunday
Bugspray...hmm. I heard the only real bugs to watch out for were spiders, but it's probably a good idea to bring it. You can get those dorky clip-on ones and avoid the oily mess of spray, but I think brand-wise OFF is the best.
I've been dress-shopping like crazy, and Target is heaven. I've got a lovely little collection going. When does the girly fashion show start?!
It's empty in the valley of your heart, the sun it rises slowly as you walk away from all the fears and faults you've left behind.
I need freedom now, and I need to know how to live my life as it's meant to be. I will hold on hope, and I won't let you choke on the noose around your neck. I'll find strength in pain and I will change my ways - I'll know my name as it's called again.

I'm worried about ticks and chiggers, lol. I also just wiki'd DEET, the main component of some bug repellents, and I just freaked myself out.
Agreed on the Target dresses! There are SO many I want but I went shopping around Christmas and bought a ton of summer things on clearance from Pac Sun, Target, and Forever 21!
I've never had need for bugspray. Yes, there are some spiders and crickets and ants (I bring a big can of Raid), but I've never had a problem with mosquitoes at Roo. And I'm a mosquito magnet.
