Yeah, I was thinking of trying to make some sort of Roo pendant to sell you girls, but I ended up deciding it wasn't a good idea to use the logo in something to sell on Etsy. I am going to make something for myself, though, and if I come up with anything good I can probably hook you ladies up - I kinda doubt they would care about the trademark if I was just giving them away and not making money.
I've made 10 pendants so far.. Not sure what I'm doing with them, but they are fun to make. I was originally going to turn them silver with rub and buff and then seal them, but I did a rough sanding an light buffing to make them rustic looking. I put one on a black leather cord with silver beads and I think it's pretty neat looking. I'm thinking about getting some hemp to play with, too.

Just don't do it on here or via etsy. Post your final product, and tell people to pm you with emails to learn how you made it or some ish - transactions occurs elsewhere. Never happened.
I'm actually thinking about making a lot and trying to sell them to make money for disaster relief in my home state of Alabama. It is just awful there and I've been trying to find a way to raise funds for the cause. We did a happy hour and raffle here in San Antonio, but so many groups pushes really hard up front to raise money and send food and supplies, and it's like people far enough removed from it all have just forgotten about it. It's so sad hearing about people who lost everything that they owned. There was one lady who had a two week old baby and was sleeping in a tent for a week.. And people went and are still going days without food. There is so much to rebuild there, and I hear another heartbreaking story every day. It's hard to imagine that in the US we have so many without food, clothing or shelter. So hopefully bonnaroo won't care too much if I sell them for the cause.

For some reason the picture isn't loading through Flickr for me, do you mind posting the image? I realllllllly wanna see what they look like. I'm not going to the brunch but I still might be interested in purchasing one.. or two.
Raising money for a cause is always a good thing. Just be careful. There are legal issues with producing and selling trademarked designs. You probably don't have to worry if it's a few here and there, but making a lot can get you in trouble. I would suggest steering clear of the roo symbol and making some other unique pendants.
^^I Agree with Clairity. Selling a trademarked item, even for a good cause, can still get you in trouble, Annabelle. If you wanted to make them and give them away, that would probably be ok. But we don't want to upset the Roo folks.
Love the idea of selling them at brunch. As for the trademark issue I'm not a lawyer but I'm not sure that three circles is so unique as to be trademarked. It could be the holy trinity (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) or in this case the holy trinity of sex, NO NO WORD!!! and rock and roll! Just my 2 cents!
Another thought, give them away and accept donations?
I am not sure if anyone has asked this yet or not because there are so many pages on this feed now, haha. It has truly been soooo helpful to me, and I am sure so many other people as well.
BUTTT I feel hesitant about taking my engagement ring to Bonnaroo this year. If I did take it, I wouldn't take it off at all of course. But I don't want it to get dirty or damaged, or etc. My fiancée is going with me, so that isn't the issue. I am mainly asking married women what their opinion on this is. I WANT to wear it, but I just don't think it is the best idea. Has anyone had this kind of trouble before?
t4r4, I am not married or engaged, but have several expensive pieces I wear regularly. I don't bring anything to Roo I wouldn't want to lose- I don't even bring earrings.

Annabelle, great job on the pendant!!
I also wanted to let you ladies know that there is a $2 off printable coupon for the Monistat body glide stuff on the Monistat website. There's also an e-coupon for 20% off any Merona item at Target (get it on your phone via the Target site) as well as many great printable Target coupons for Roo-related stuff this week (15% off any Coleman camping item; 24pks of Poland Spring .5L bottles for $3.49 + $1/off coupon from last Sunday's Unilever insert; great matchup on Crystal Light drink mix, sale + coupon). At Wal-Mart you can get Nexcare bandaids for free with $1 coupon off the Nexcare site + temporary rollback to $1/box.

I am not married or engaged either, but I always wear a coral ring from my mother that would hurt just as much if lost as a diamond. I have never felt like it was at risk of coming off, and it's survived many a festival, horse show, camping trip, drunken escapade, etc...I have no problem wearing it to Bonnaroo. I also always have silver studs in my ears and plan on keeping those in as well.

I forgot to take my engagement ring off last year before leaving so I ended up wearing it at Roo. I was really paranoid about losing it the entire time. I'm definitely not wearing it or my wedding band this year. I think I'm just going to get a cheap stand-in ring to wear for Roo so I don't feel naked all weekend without it.

Well.. If I was to sell the trinity rings of sex, no no word, and rock and roll( love that. This is NOT the official bonnaroo symbol. Ha!) at the inforoo brunch as a fundraiser, I would probably set them at $10-$15 each. They don't cost much to make since I have clay left over from another project, and if I decide to get creative with other beads or hemp I would definitely charge $15. I mean if I was just selling them for my profit I would feel bad charging my friends anything more than $5 for my time and supplies because it's just fun, but as a fund raiser I think $10-$15 is reasonable. I may come up with my own design as suggested below. I don't know if I could do something to symbolize bonnaroo helping the disaster victims or maybe even sell ribbons for a dollar to help.. I might contact bonnaroo people and ask them if the vendors could sell ribbons for a dollar to donate to the cause.

This is bothering me, too. I think I wore mine last year and everything is fine, but the more I think about it now the more I worry. I have to hire pet sitters, so I don't want to leave it here in a jewelry box just in case they aren't honest. A little over a week ago I noticed that one of my tiny little pave diamonds fell out, and I have to have it replaced, so I was thinking about taking it to the jeweler to have it fixed while I'm away, but the thought of being without it for two weeks drives me batty. But if you were jut attending the festival, taking it to get cleaned or have any work done on it that would need to be done to keep insurance (if you have it) would be a good option. You would have to be without for at least a little while anyway for that kind of stuff, so why not let it line up with the festival?
I wear my wedding and engagement ring all the time. I think if you are used to wearing it all the time then it probably won't be an issue. If you take it off every night or when you wash dishes, etc then you're probably more likely to lose it along the way.
BTW, when I was pregnant I was so worried about my fingers swelling up and losing my rings I went to the local pawn shop and bought a cheap, simple band (under $20). You might want to try that idea.

I already have one set of feather extensions, but I just found a cheaper alternative for adding more before Bonnaroo...I found some feather earrings on etsy that were half the price of the feather extensions...I bought them in colors that match my extensions and I plan on just cutting the earring part off and putting them in like regular extensions. I am actually going to keep one as an earring, and just wear that on the side opposite my extentions...I have really long hair, so it will blend in well. I am kind of in love with this trend.
I have some feather earrings that I've been stalking for awhile on Etsy as well.
I was looking around on Etsy yesterday and found that you can get diy feather extensions pretty cheaply. Like 5-7 feathers including crimps for 15-35 bucks. They look pretty easy to do.

Yeahh, I would really advise against anybody trying to use the three ring logo for profit. Are they likely to do anything about it if you make a couple bucks off it? No. But they MIGHT if anybody makes a more significant amount from it, and that includes if the money goes to charity. And trying to claim it wasn't supposed to be the Bonnaroo logo would be meaningless, the logo isn't just three circles and if it was correctly reproduced it would quite definitely be the Roo logo. Uh, especially if you talk about it here first. And I can pretty much guarantee you that logo is trademarked.
In my opinion it comes down to...yes, it's very possible you'd get away with it, especially on a small scale. But do you really want to get tangled up in copyright law for a couple bucks just because you can get away with it? Especially when the trademark you'd be infringing belongs to something you love?
I'm not sure yet! I don't have the tools to work in metal, although honestly I was never all THAT good with a jeweler's saw anyway and it probably would have come out a bit wonky looking. Could do plastic but even that would be pretty tricky to get right, especially since if I want it to all be one piece I would have to somehow "connect" it at the gaps. Which means cutting out the negative space inside the rings...not something I'm crazy about. I was working on a bubble blower necklace a while back for my Etsy shop and I ended up giving up on it because one after another just snapped while I was trying to cut it.
So I've been playing with a few ideas for making some Roo jewelry, haven't quite figured it out yet. Might try one in plastic to see if I can manage it. Would love to do something in wire but then I'm back to the whole issue of the logo being two pieces. Bah. I'll let you girls know if I come up with anything cute!
And as for engagement/wedding rings at Roo - I agree with katbur2 that it depends on your ring-wearing habits. I know when I wear rings I tend to play with them constantly. I always end up twisting them around my finger or, worse, taking them off to fiddle with them without really thinking about it. And then I drop them. I'm really, really hoping that by the time I ever end up wearing an engagement ring or wedding ring I can manage to stop myself from doing that....but if I DID still have a tendency to play with it, I don't think I'd want to wear it to Roo. But if you wear it all the time and don't really think about it, I would think you could safely wear it at Roo.
I like the idea of getting a different ring to wear at Roo!

i've been torn deciding whether to wear my wedding ring or not and this is perfect! i'll find a cheapie ring at roo and wear it instead...thanks so much for the idea!
I have already contacted bonnaroo about fund raising. I'm waiting to hear back because they passed my inquiry on to the powers that be. So many people are out in Alabama heat with tents if they are lucky, no running water, ice, food, cars, etc. In one town the mayor turned away FEMA trailers because of zoning.. Seriously?.. So all those people are still living in rubble in tents trying to figure out what to do next. I plan on doing whatever it takes to help raise funds. It may not work out to be through Bonnaroo, but I'm doing what I can, so I appreciate the trademark concern and take it seriously.. That is why I am contacting them about it. I had the idea of ribbons before, but then I thought that sharp pins and people who might have partied too hard might not mix well.. So I thought about how Obama said that Alabama will not be forgotten.. And then about how people say to tie a string around your finger to remember something and thought some sort of simple string or cord bracelets to remember would be a good idea. So I don't know if any or all of my ideas are possible, but I figure that it won't hue to try to do some good while I'm on vacation.

That sounds awesome! I like the idea of the "string around your finger" symbolism. If you do end up doing some sort of bracelet design, you should definitely attach a little hang tag to each one explaining the fundraiser and the string-around-your-finger idea and all that. Let me know if you want me to make up a hangtag - I don't know what your graphics skills are like but I'm happy to put my graphic design training to use if you want some help!
Yeah.. I'm waiting to hear back from them. If they say yes, I'm not sure how involved to make the bracelets. I can go super super simple and make more but charge less or make more involved ones and charge more.. With as many people as show to bonnaroo.. 90,000 give or take, it would be awesome if everyone gave one dollar. But yeah... I was trying to think of a way to describe the symbolism.. I would definitely put Obama's quote and I'm not so great with graphic design, so if I get a yes I may take you up on that.
