bonzai, that dress was on point! Totally wearable now.
I'm thinking I might go buy more smocked material to make flowy skirts and tube dresses again. I made one for last year and now it's lost
I got a sewing machine last week, so I was thinking about doing this. I have some dresses that I love, and I was just thinking I would try to copy them with different color/pattered fabric. They look pretty simple, but I have no idea how hard it is really......

If you're using that smocked fabric it's literally just sewing one seam. It's kind of expensive though so I recommend finding store coupons or asking your fabric store when the prints you like will be on sale.
I used a darker version of THIS fabric last year and it worked really well.

Oh I did not know you could buy fabric like that already!! I just planned on buying elastic thread and doing it myself - i found a pattern online that looks super easy.... Is that not a good idea?

I don't think I have the patience/craftiness to do it myself so I like the pre-smocked but if you're good with DIYs you could probably handle it. The hardest part would probably be figuring out measurements. You need 2 inches less than your bust measurement for the top part once it's smocked but how do you know how much it will take away once it's bunched up?

Was JUST looking at the Flamingo print but it's short I think. I usually buy three yards but I don't know how much I use for my actual dress. Last time I used the extra to make a dress for my 7-year old.

OK I will take a look when I get home at this. Short is ok, because I am short and I like short dresses at Roo
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
Someone sent me this for a laugh. But I'm seriously thinking of learning how to do this.
But would it reflect back into my eyeballs at LN shows? I was thinking about Deadmau5 but that's going to be an intense light show.
I wonder if you could just use the glue for false lashes to stick 'em on? If not, most costume shops sell face glue (i don't know what it's actually called, I used it once to glue a mustache on for a halloween costume). That would probably work well.
I prefer a man skirt over a man dress, but to each their own
Honest truth I was just taking a picture of Which and when I went back through looking at pictures, I noticed him. I never noticed him in person. Maybe hes a ghost.

I think it looks cool, but I would be very concerned about sharp/large ass pieces of glitter being that close to my eyes. If you try it, maybe start the glitter madness a bit lower for eyeball safety.

Definitely eye-approved glitter only. I'm always shocked when I hear girls talk about getting cheap craft glitter to put on their faces. That's a good way to lose an eye

not just that, but if you're at a multi-day music festival and your eye gets cut.... that's gameover for the rest of the trip.

Exactly my first thought. But since these are large pieces I guess it would be (maybe) less scary. The tiny glitterpieces are the ones that would creep into your eyes and reign terror upon your eyeballs.

Also, this...
The rhinestones would be fine! The glitter in the original picture looks like little ninja stars of death for your eyes, though.

These all look really awesome, but there is no way I would have the patience/time/large hands free mirror I would require to do this at Bonnaroo, ha ha.
I did a quick Amazon search earlier and found some cosmetic star glitter that could be used around your eyes. It softens when wet so it won't scratch your eyes. Cosmetic glitter is a totally different material than craft glitter.

So resourceful women! Amazing. To be honest I'd probably end up just using regular glitter and not those ninja Death Stars. I'm definitely going to check out cosmetic glitter.
So happy this thread has revived itself. Happy Roo ladies!

I had some sticker rhinestones that I've attempted to use before but the moment I start sweating, the jewels fall off! Any remedies you ladies can think of?

Just found this after some googling, manic panic stuff tends to be really great so I would trust it. I'd love to see what the blacklight ones are like, that would be especially amazing for late night.
