Hey women! I came across this while stumblin' tonight and thought someone here would appreciate it! Personally, I hate headbands ( I have a wee head and nothing fits comfortably). But hopefully someone finds this awesome
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Random question, but a very valuable one. I'm super fair skinned and a redhead. I was totally smothered in sunscreen last year (spf 50) applied probably 5-6 times each day, had a huge sun hat, mostly wore a wrap over my shoulders/chest and still managed to burn. Do any of you do a base tan before you go to Bonnaroo? We're planning to go again this year but I can't get burned the way I did last year, it was horrible.

Make sure you are reapplying. When you sweat it off it's not going to work as well. I carried the spray in my bag and just had it misted over me throughout the day. I'm also fair skinned and didn't have a problem.

I've read a little about this but not much, thanks for the link. I also used a mineral sunscreen - it's normally my go to. Used it for years and have never burned with it but I've also never been in the direct sun for so many hours on end. I'm going to also try to get a small umbrella in this year and enjoy the mist tents a bit more
I have been using Neutrogena Sport spf 80 for three years and haven't suffered a sunburn at Roo yet. I do base tan about 25 times before going, though. I'm so fair complected I have to start with 5 minutes!
Hi ladies! I've been lurking since last year (our first Roo) but I have a strange question for you guys!
Do you wear bra's while at Roo? I hate them. Seriously. I never wear them at home but it is so ingrained in me that I need to wear them I can't not wear one when I'm out of the house. I've tried and I just feel so uncomfortable and weird about it and keep my arms crossed. I'm average sized (34C) so it's not like being too busty is the issue. I think part of it is that I'm 36 now and I defintely don't have my 21 year old pre-kids body anymore. Everything is just so soft! lol
My husband says that if there is any place to get over it - that's it's at Bonnaroo. I tried last year around our campsite but I just kept thinking about it and felt like people were looking at me so I put one back on. And I know I would have been more comfortable in the heat without one! I guess the last 24 yrs of wearing one has really done a number on me.
So - what do you guys do and how do you get over your inhibitions?

I like to think that releasing my inhibitions is one of the best parts of life. I just go for it! Whatever it is..
I was actually thinking about doing the body painting thing this year(I guess a girl can be topless and they paint your whole torso or whatever) but I have insecurities about my chest. But, finally, I was like "Who cares what anybody else thinks? I know i'm probably going to see somebody thats looks a lot crazier/funnier/bad/interesting than me!"
I was recently making my list for everything that I need to take(yes, I know its a little early) and bras were kept off the list. If i'm going to be in 90-100 degree weather, the last thing I want is some constricting, thick piece of fabric to hold sweat and make me feel yuck.
So just let go. Don't think about it, or worry about other people.. You're there for you. Enjoy YOURself ;D

Yeah, bras are a pain in the ass for us girls with larger ladies. I'm like you, going without one feels...wrong lol. Even though I always wear underwires, I try to find soft "t-shirt" style bras with no wire in them. You can also do sports bras.
I wear bikini tops (you can buy the top only for cheap at Wal*Mart or somewhere similar) at Roo in place of bras. They breathe better and take sweat better so you don't have a stinky bra. When wet from misters or fountain the sweat washes out and they dry faster than bras as well.
I was a 34C before I gained ~20#. Now I'm a 34DD!! The Victoria's Secret lady was skeptical when I said 34C and she measured and I tried on bras... craziness!! I need to stop wearing push ups because there's not enough room.
I've never been brave enough to go bra-less at Roo. Like most of the ladies that have responded, I do bikini tops during the day and then a sports bra at night.
The only issue I have is with halter bikini tops... at the end of the day, my neck hurts That's when a good massage would come in handy!
JHo, I dont' go braless except aroudn the house, and usually then I have one of those camis with the extra boobie layer on. lol. I would love to paint my boobs sometimes at Roo, but I'm WAY too local hahaha.
edit: and modest-ish

You know I never thought about a bikini top probably because I haven't worn a standard bikini probably since before I was 30. But that would definitely work - good point about the halter top style though! And the few sports bras I have are so tight and old they would be uncomfortabel too so maybe between now and Roo I can look for a good one and some kind of bikini that might work.
Bdiddy - I have to say my new favorite "bras" are the bandinis by hanes and beyond bare. You can find them at Walmart & Target ($10-$15 for a two pack). They are cut like sports bras but do not have quite the support. You can wear just one or layer them for extra support. Super comfy and in lots of fun colors, they can be worn a variety of ways (including strapless!). I wore them to bonnaroo last year and wear them most days in general. Prior to that I wore bikini tops to 'roo and now I definitely prefer the bandinis.

chloetuesday, if you're worried about burning. be careful in the misting tents! they can wipe off some of your sublock (this happened to my friend even tho it said waterproof). same goes for random people misting or squirting water on you......yeah it feels awesome in that wicked tennessee heat....just remember to spray on some sublock afterwards just in case!
as for the bra thing.....i am a 34DD and find it very uncomfortable going bra-less for too long. i usually wear a bathing suit, but have to switch my tops around. the halter type hurts my neck too much. this year i'm going to victoria's secret! i hear they have bikini tops which are bra sizes!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
Victoria secret does have bra size bathing suits, but very few go up to D and even fewer DD. Try Venus for large cup bikini tops. Almost all of theirs go up to DD. (I'm a 34 DDD. Big pain)
I just go to the drumstrong tent and get my tatas painted and then voila! I become a breast cancer supporter sans shirt and bra.... a double win in my book

I LOVE this top! Enough that I am seriously considering braving our awful mall to go get it.
I have never worn a bra at Roo. I'm a 34C and always go the bikini top route or braless with a sundress. I wear bikinis that have thin halter straps, those seem to not hurt as much as the thick ones.
As for makeup - if I don't wear makeup, I break out at Roo. I stick to my basic tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, MAC Studio Fix and then some eyeliner and mascara. I've never had a problem with sunburn, breaking out or looking sweaty.
Sunscreen - I use the Neutrogena Sport 50spf spray. I keep a can of that with me at all times and between Ron and I, we prepare to go through a can a day. I don't burn easily, but I'd rather waste some sunscreen than suffer a Roo burn; it's miserable trying to sleep as it is. I wear a big floppy hat from Columbia that is 50 or 75spf to protect my forehead, too.
Something that I cannot recommend highly enough is Runner's Glide. I put that everywhere! Where my sandals rub, under my bag straps, where my elbows rub my sides - anywhere there is friction.
JHo - didn't you say that deodorant works in a pinch?
I also keep a bottle of aftersun lotion in the cooler, even if you don't look/feel burned, it's super nice to put on some cool hydrating lotion at the end of the day. I don't know if it *really* works, but my mom has been using it her whole life and I don't think I've ever seen her burnt and she was a sun bunny - like using baby oil as accelerant sun bunny.

thanks for the tip! however, i live in canada and i don't think we have a venus here. i'll keep my fingers crossed for our VS and if not maybe i'll order online?
i will report back when i (eventually) go. it takes me awhile to do things lol.

I'm relatively new to the board, and will be a first-time Bonnaroo attender this year. I just got all caught up on the 2012 posts from this thread. I'm loving all the head scarf and summer dress lovin'. My summer dress shopping needs to start soon!
On the topic of waist bags from a few pages back, here's a link to a tutorial for a sewn "hipslinger". www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31379.0 . It's pretty easy to make. . . but then again, I make bags.
Also loving the Pinterest mentions. . . I'm a Pinterest addict!
