jesstacular: that hipslinger bag thingy looks awesome! i seem to carry too much crap around with me tho. i tried to rock a fanny pack last year and it just ended up being too bulky.....i doubt i could narrow my shit down enough to fit in that....even for late night.
i've been on the lookout for the most perfect roo bag....have yet to find it. i may just stick with the over the shoulder satchel type bag. it's treated me well the last two years.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I use a pretty backpack for most of my gear, but want a hip bag for the essentials that I need often. Phone, camera, cash, schedule, maybe tp. It's such a pain pulling your pack off your back every time you need to check where a band is playing.

^^^So true. That is my biggest complaint, anytime I need something I have to swing my bag off my back. It doesn't seem like much but when you are pressed up against people that last thing you want to do it get a bookbag/camelbak involved. Swinging it around, potentially smacking people in the face (people tend to not like that), losing stuff, etc.
I had all intentions of making myself a utility belt of sorts, but my work schedule is just not conducive to any sort of craft project.
Maybe I will just go buy a tool belt and sew a zipper into it. Done and done....that probably won't happen.
I have the day off today, I'm gonna scout about some sporting good stores and see if I can find anything that might work
chloetuesday, if you're worried about burning. be careful in the misting tents! they can wipe off some of your sublock (this happened to my friend even tho it said waterproof). same goes for random people misting or squirting water on you......yeah it feels awesome in that wicked tennessee heat....just remember to spray on some sublock afterwards just in case!
as for the bra thing.....i am a 34DD and find it very uncomfortable going bra-less for too long. i usually wear a bathing suit, but have to switch my tops around. the halter type hurts my neck too much. this year i'm going to victoria's secret! i hear they have bikini tops which are bra sizes!
I have a VS halter bikini top that I wear sometimes at Roo but it hurts my neck after a few hours. It's a 34D but I really could have used a DD..... Last year I went braless with some of my tube top dresses and was totally fine with it after the first 30 minutes of worrying how I looked...... It was very very comfortable to be in that heat with no bra!
I like the VS tee shirt dresses, super thin (cool) but kind of shapeless and expensive! I have one of those and one of the beach dresses, but the beach dress is a thicker cotton that is too hot for day wear, thought it is a halter.

You can go braless? I applaud you, DreamingTree! It seems that we are about the same cup size but that aaaiiin't no option for me!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I didn't say it was pretty!! I am over 40 so things are not perky anymore The dresses all are gathered in the tube top part so they hold everything in place. I would not do this anywhere else but Bonnaroo
I have never worn a bra at Roo. I'm a 34C and always go the bikini top route or braless with a sundress. I wear bikinis that have thin halter straps, those seem to not hurt as much as the thick ones.
As for makeup - if I don't wear makeup, I break out at Roo. I stick to my basic tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, MAC Studio Fix and then some eyeliner and mascara. I've never had a problem with sunburn, breaking out or looking sweaty.
Sunscreen - I use the Neutrogena Sport 50spf spray. I keep a can of that with me at all times and between Ron and I, we prepare to go through a can a day. I don't burn easily, but I'd rather waste some sunscreen than suffer a Roo burn; it's miserable trying to sleep as it is. I wear a big floppy hat from Columbia that is 50 or 75spf to protect my forehead, too.
Something that I cannot recommend highly enough is Runner's Glide. I put that everywhere! Where my sandals rub, under my bag straps, where my elbows rub my sides - anywhere there is friction.
JHo - didn't you say that deodorant works in a pinch?
I also keep a bottle of aftersun lotion in the cooler, even if you don't look/feel burned, it's super nice to put on some cool hydrating lotion at the end of the day. I don't know if it *really* works, but my mom has been using it her whole life and I don't think I've ever seen her burnt and she was a sun bunny - like using baby oil as accelerant sun bunny.
That hat is amazeballs. Seen it in RL and it's pretty epic.
And YES - BODY GLIDE. I know the Body Glide vs. Gold Bond has been discussed ad nauseum in this thread over the years - but my personal experience says: BOTH. When its hot, the Body Glide on the thighs is a life saver. Body Glide anywhere really. However, I find that when it is Crazy-Ridiculous-Africa-Hot - the Gold Bond "stays" longer. The Body Glide needs frequent re-application when my skin is as hot as the surface of the sun. But somehow the Gold Bond powder doesnt require me to throw my skirt up for application every 10 minutes. SO - I always take into Centeroo the Body Glide (btw, don't scoff at the $9/bar price, it's worth it), AND a little 0.99 bottle of the Gold Bond.
Those two items alone (well... in addition to WATER) are worth their weight in gold at Roo.

This may be old news to some of you, but I have to share the great new thing I discovered. Clip-on stirrups. So I've fallen for the jeggings/skinny jeans thing. I think they are super cute with boots, but it's annoying how they bunch up and either gather at the top of your boots or bunch and dig into your ankles. Then I got these and they are perfect. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HJ79L0/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details I've found them in "women's accessories" for like $20, but these are the same thing, just aimed at equestrian riders and way cheaper.

I didn't have an issue with thighs at all but then again I didn't wear any dresses/skirts last year and I plan to this year. So my question is you put body glide on and THEN gold bond on top of that?

Last year i just used Body Glide and only had to apply it once or twice a day. That stuff is SO worth the money. The year before I was constantly applying Gold Bond. All the girls I was with agreed they liked the Body Glide better (plus it's less messy).
If you are wearing dresses and skirts and not ultra thin (where your thighs don't even close to touch) you will probably need it.
Abra, I would suggest trying both Gold Bond and Body Glide before Roo with a dress/skirt to see which you like better.
I personally prefer Gold Bond because it absorbs sweat, too. I reapply a few times a day, more for the sweat-absorption than anything else. Everyone is different though, so try them out and see which works best for you.

How often did you have to apply gold bond? I found myself (and Sherry) needing to use it pretty often - at least every hour....... That is the main reason I liked the Body Glide better, I put on once in the morning and again later in the day.
I guess it's a preference thing. I really have never a problem with chaffing at Bonnaroo or in real life. Yes, my thighs touch but as long as there's no sweat, I don't chafe. I would reapply maybe three times a day, more if I'm sweating a lot. Once again, I use it mostly for the sweat-absorption... if that makes sense.
I also put Gold Bond on my feet and in my shoes when I sit down. It is very, very nice on your feet!
i dont do both - unless i start with body glide, it gets crazy hot, then i switch to gold bond. honestly, take both, and try one then the other and see what works for you. Im never without both of them in my bag.

I have been using Neutrogena Sport spf 80 for three years and haven't suffered a sunburn at Roo yet. I do base tan about 25 times before going, though. I'm so fair complected I have to start with 5 minutes!
The last time I went to a tanning bed 5 minutes was almost too much for me... My shoulders were pink. I'm convinced I need to smuggle in a golf umbrella.

A lightweight cotton cardigan is the best protection I have found from the sun! My backpack tends to rub the sunscreen off my shoulders during the day, esp when I take it on and off, so I have started bringing a cardigan to protect my shoulders. Try it out.

Ok ladies! I have officially purchased my ticket so plan on seeing a lot more of me around here! I went to Old Navy & Target today and had to refrain from buying a million sundresses because I'm seriously trying to lose weight and I'm scared they won't fit by summer! They had lots of really cute ones though!
