I have a Blackberry Curve 8300 with AT&T....I will have it with me for Roo, but dont plan on using it too much except maybe a couple of late night texts and phone calls so people know I am alive LOL
Hopefully the Blackberry Edge network gets a little better service than conventional AT&T

AT&T sucked for a friend of mine, he could not even send text messages until after dark
Yeah AT&T crapped out @ about 6pm on Thursday night. However my friend with Verizon never had any problems.... good things all my friends going this year have Verizon!!!
Well that SUCKS! I just switched to at&t from sprint. But sprint sucked for me last year too so i guess it'll just be the same. Should've gone with verizon, but my pops picks out the cell phone services

I have a local cell provider, Cellular South. They rock.. for real. I got awesome service, was able to text message, and all that good stuff, until my phone met the mushroom and some funky mishaps occured after that.

I sadly had to get a new phone after roo
I suppose you mean the mushroom fountain, since that is the only mushroom at Roo. ???

yeah i forgot to type fountain! I was playing in the water after sts9 and forgot my phone was in my pocket.
and then the rest of the time my phone would work. and cut off. work. and cut off.
I loved that nokia
For those thinking about getting or switching to Verizon, they have "ruggedized" phones ( www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2995 ) that can take "the Mushroom". I have one and often drop it in a glass of water to freak people out (just because I can). Before getting it, I looked at other providers' phones and could not find anything like it. I'm not recommending Verizon, just letting you know they have this.
P.S. I too have better reception with Verizon than Cingular/ATT.
Verizon was excellent everywhere and at all times for me last year. Voice, text, and data were all working great.
Text messaging, btw, is by far your best friend at 'roo. If you have a lot of friends to coordinate with and whatnot, consider your txting limit and paying the 5-10$ to increase it for one month.
One morning while at 'roo I had to check email (I know, I know, but I really love my job and one morning for ~30 minutes was not so heinous an interruption). I fired up the smartphone, did those emails I had to get done, and no trouble at all.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
Last year, the general rule I found was this: CDMA providers (Sprint, Verizon) were fine, but GSM providers (T-Mobile, Cingular/AT&T, etc.) were all almost unusable.
Voice calls always went straight to voicemail for my GSM-using friends and text messages (either to them or from them) had delays anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
