I went ahead and bought a bunch of toiletries...turns out they have camp rolls of TP, camp liquid soap, and outdoor wet wipes etc. all for really cheap in the camping section of Walmart.
I got some tarps, rope, bungie cords, batteries, solar blankets and some of that kind of thing too, all really cheap again at Walmart.
Also on their website I found a tent that comes with 2 sleeping bags, 2 camp chairs and a small cooler included...I'm not sure of the quality though so I am going to hold off, even though the tent got great reviews from customers on their website. Here is the link for that product
It's always best to start early. If you have a list of what you'll need, you have months to watch the sales and save some cash. I'm stalking tents and canopies, myself!
Tent shopping advise: If you find a tent you're interested in, look it up on Amazon.com. They have reviews for everything! You don't want to end up with a leaky tent if it rains...
No, you aren't weird at all. Weird is visiting your friend in the state of Colorado in February and her wanting you to participate in a test run of setting up the tent. You know, when the GROUND IS FROZEN SOLID!

I caught those on clearance last year for $50. I bought one and have camped at two fests with it so far and am actually using the 2 sleeping bags as blankets at home. This is the first tent I've had to survive 2 fests with no problems. I wish I had bought a couple of extra sets while they still had them at that price.

I'm not going to have us SLEEP in the tent in February. But there have been reports of very hard ground at Bonnaroo, so setting it up on frozen ground is a perfect test. Be glad - I was thinking we could set the tent up in the middle of a ring of fire to get an approximation of the heat of Bonnaroo, but I've given up on that idea.
And anyway, we need to set the tent up as a visual reference for the Bonnaroo campsite diorama we'll be making.
Okay, so maybe a little weird. I'm okay with that!

i haven't even opened my tent to clean it out since bonnaroo 06. i can't wait until it's nice enough so i can clean it, but more looking forward to seeing if it smells like the farm. i'll just sit in it with my radio and some corn. gee that sounds nice
(ps.... ThatGrrl, karma for being in C'ville... Has to be my favorite city to visit )
Thanks, strumntheguitar! Your favorite visiting city is currently under about 2 inches of snow. If the power goes out, I'll have my handy 'Roo Coleman stove to cook on. Camping equipment: It's not just for 'Roo, anymore!
Just got an awesome canopy on eBay last night. Only $60 shipped. One of those Coleman geosport ones, 15' x 15', with 5 legs (more stability). The reviews all said it's a snap to put up. And Coleman equipment tends to take a beating. I also like that it's a sorta weird shape!
