Hi, this will be our first bonnaroo. We were wondering how much room you get for your campsite? There's a bunch of us going; and we're going to have 5-6 vehicles. Instead of bringing separate tents, we were thinking of bringing one big 10 x 30 canopy tent with sidewalls to put in front of the length of the cars, and just putting a few air mattresses inside. Would we have the room to do this, since we wouldn't have any other tents? Or would we have to buy VIP passes to have the room to do this? Thanks for your info.

A few suggestions:
Go into the festival together. You'll be going through security checkpoints to get it, after you go through pull over to the side and let whoever is directing traffic know that you are waiting on the rest of your posse.
Generally when they pull cars into the camping spots they pull the first one in and the second one up to the bumper of the first one so unless you really sweet talk the parking guy you're only going to have the space of 2-3 cars if you all want to camp together. The other option is you can talk to the people in the cars around you and tell them what your plan is, most people are more than happy to accommodate.
Lastly, and I've posted this somewhere else, if you hop out of your car fast enough and set up your tent before anyone else can claim the space you're golden. Just offer to help the neighbors set up so they don't get pissy.
Last year it was just me and my buddy and we had something like a 12-14 person tent and a shade canopy and had no problems. Of course we did have to help the lovely ladies next to us set up camp after we were done setting up ours.
Also, as you're parking, remember to swing wide. The guy parking us specifically said to park as close to each other as possible, but I just pretended like I didn't really know how to drive my friend's truck and it was fine.
In front of our one vehicle, we had enough room for two 4-6 person tents + a 10x10 (or was it 12x12?) EZ-up. But then I've heard of others who are squished in like sardines.
So explain your situation to the parking people, swing wide and smile nicely and you'll be all good.
We rolled up in four cars last year, and they had us park bumper to bumper too. But once our row had filled in a little more, we coordinated w/ our neighbors and we all just jumped back in our cars and pulled forward enough to open a good space to camp. I think the key thing is talking to those near you...and it's an easy way to make friends!

Its definitely a very good idea to talk to your neighbors.

I've always been in car-camping and i'll agree that the parking volunteers only care about packing you in as close as possible with no regard for space to camp. So it is necessary to try and fudge a little more space while being respectful to your neighbors and the staff. another option is to park and walk your camping gear to tent-only for a closer spot to centeroo. but it can be very crowded there too.
in the past few years my friends and i have had several cars caravaning in, so we can work some leverage as we park to create more room (strength in numbers). then, collectively we take a small tent to tent-only for a meet-up spot that is right outside of centeroo. this works great for breaks during the day and pre-parties before the headliner shows, without having to make the haul back to your main campsite.
