So in 07 I remember hearing on bonnaroo.com about a campsite contest. The best looking campsite wins a 08 ticket or free forever ticket or something aweosme. So I wanna try to win and go ahead and purchase like 1000 glowsticks. Over 100$ spent. and once I get to the first checkpoint, the volunteer assh*le takes the entire box from me. and thats all he took! he said that roo didnt want people throwing glowsticks onto the stage. First off, let the centroo security worry about that. second, they have way more to worry about than glowsticks. Okay so I really didnt actually buy them for them campsite, but for a huge glowstick war during the flaming lips. but nevertheless. that is some rotten BS! they stole over 100$ worth of none life threatening stuff from me. Whomever you are volunteer glowstick thief; GO F*CK YOURSELF. seriously. had to vent.
You know....while I understand your side....on the other hand....I got hit so hard by a glowstick during Panic that my arm was purple for a week....people need to calm down with that sh!t.

I could personally live without people throwing glowsticks...those little skinny tiny one's are ok but the regular size need to stay firmly in your hand. I have gotten hit before and it sucked...
and also I know i mentioned this in another thread but last year there were people breaking them and flicking the inside glowy stuff around which happens to bleach out your clothes and burn if you get it in your eyes and also it's just stupid....if you're going to do it please keep it on yourself and not on your neighbors! that made me soooo mad! but I was watching panic at the time so I got over it
That said it's fun to watch them but be responsible and respectful of others when you use/throw them!

The stuff inside them is a carcinogen. A friend of mine who had a lot of exposure to that stuff died in his early 40's from cancer....so ahhh...DON'T DO THAT!
What's worse than throwing regular glowsticks are the people that swing them around on the long ropes without having enough space where they wouldn't hit anyone. I once got clocked in the head by someone swinging a glowstick so damn hard that I saw stars. I really don't care if people do it, but if you are... be considerate!

Mine were the smaller glow braclets/rings. and they still stole them! Oh and they make glow sticks with non toxic stuff. Theye wouldnt be able to sell them to kids if they did, kids break everything open. Yeah I am one to break them open and turn myself into a walking galaxy but the worst that can happen is stain your clothes and it tastes like garbage.

the security was being uptight about glowsticks, beach balls, and all that stuff.
We were right up front on the left hand corner of the barricade fence for Widespread, and if beach balls, glow-whatevers, or anything went over the fence, they took it!
They would whip out pocket knives and deflate the balls, and just look so mean.
I understand they have a job to do, and I understand glow sticks throwing can cause injuries, but they just seemed super uptight.

The staff could have been confiscating the glow-sticks for safety reasons. Here's probably a reasonable scenario: someone gets hurt from a big, unbendable glow-stick and heads over to the med tent for a band-aid, the med tent people find out and probably pass this info on, and soon enough the staff is told to confiscate glow-sticks
Everyone is just doing what they're told. There were several problems with staff communication last year, hopefully this year they're more organized!
...but i agree, lame. We'll just have to hope more vip-ers bring glow-sticks
I am probably in the minority here, but I hate those glow rings.....okay hates a little strong, but I don't see the big deal. I saw a "glowstick war" (I guess thats what its called) at Trey in 2005 and that was kinda cool, but it gets a little old to me. I did get hit with a glow ring at MMJ's latenite show and was so drunk it confused me. I looked to the dude beside me and said, "What the hell do i do with this". He told me to throw it so i threw it and hit him with it. We laughed about that for a while.

I don't get the need to throw anything during a performance. It's fun for about five minutes...if you're participating in it. But, having been hit by way too many objects over the years, it's annoying. And if that glowstick liquid got on me and ruined my clothing, there might have to be a throwdown (and I've never thrown down in my life).
Well if its just the glowy rings or the non thick tubey ones, i dont see the harm.. don't throw the thick ones, they hurt..
I personally love glowstick wars, but to each their own..
Also, I'd reccomend against wearing anything to bonnaroo that you'd be incredibly upset if it got ruined.. I mean, i dont want my clothes ruined either, and I've had a few shirts festival-a-fied in the past... it just happens
The harm is getting hit in the eye by something, which has happened to me more than once. I expect my clothes to get dirty and I'm not talking about someone accidentally spilling beer on me. I understand the appeal of the glow items, but it's a tad inconsiderate to harm person or property in the name of fun.

even like the necklaces can hurt, i remember a couple of years ago, i was hit at an amusment park cuz some kid never hooked the ends together and was whipping it in circles...i had a huge mark for like a week...OUCH!!!!
but i still think its dumb for security to just take them...but whatever...what can ya do?

Let me see if I am understanding oklaroo correctly - you are upset that security took your glowsticks, which you intended to throw without regard to the consequences to others, and which you intend to break open and splash around, also without regard to how it affects others. Has it occured to you that people with your attitude are the reason they get confiscated from the rest of us who DON'T use them destructively? And YOU'RE pissed? If mine get taken because of the actions of people like you, I'll be pissed. And I'm with Sass - I don't care about my clothes per se, but if someone is going to be so inconsiderate as to throw that shit on me, they will regret it. Fun doesn't equate to having the right to injure other people or their property.

i loved it at FLips when i was just walking and there were some fucking douches throwing glowsticks at persons heads. Not the small glowsticks. the thick ones. I couldnt help myself but to get a handfull and peg some of the turds during their drunkin "fun" I mean like they were hitting people like five feet in front of them, throwing it as hard as they could.
