the showers and buffets are included in your ticket price.
the showers usually didn't have much of a line - I showered each night before the headliner and felt great into the wee hours of the morning. I hear that there will be showers in general admission this year also, but those will be slammed with people.
the port-o-johns were emacculately clean in VIP.
Another huge bonus to VIP is it is so close to the main stage - you won't expend all of your energy walking to Centeroo from your campsite, which means you can also go back more often.
There is a whole thread on the wonders of VIP somewhere.

thanks so much. ive been stuggling to make sure. pretty sure ill be doing it. just seems like the only way to go. how was the buffet. were there like burgers and hot dogs.
^^^ Buffet was actually better than that. They did burgers for lunch at least once or twice, last year, as I recall. But I also remember there being a ton o' salad greens at each meal. Brain is foggy but something reminds me that I ate jambalaya one night. They had hot chicken dishes. Some fish at one point (your basic white fish, as I recall). It was pretty generic hotel reception type of food. Nothing fancy. But generally more than burgers and hotdogs. Remember that breakfast is on your own!!! And no lunch on Thursday. First meal is dinner that night.
The snack table was the funniest thing. There was some vendor who obviously wanted us all to try these new crunchy flavored energy snacks (came in flavors like guacamole and barbeque). They were really good and super portable. Any time they tossed out more of the bags of those, it was like vultures decending!

There are a number of advantages to VIP that you can't put a price tag on. One is the size of the campsites and access to real grass (I mean the green kind that grows on the ground). The dust last year was horrible, but not in VIP, fortunately. Also, access to Centeroo can't be beat and the entrance from the VIP Bar tent avoids any and all search lines. The showers, while kinda gross, are wonderfully refreshing in the afternoon. I loved the airconditioned porto-johns. No stink, and had a real flush so you didn't have to look down into the miasma (eeeuuuuuhhhh). We tented it last year in VIP and enjoyed spending some mid-day time in the airconditioned VIP tent. There were snacks, tables and couches and soft chairs for napping. It wasn't exactly COLD, but took the edge of the 95 degree hot sunny day. Last, but not least, there was easy access to drive off the property for breakfast, shopping, etc. and it was SUPER easy to drive out on Monday morning - the GA exit line was hours long. If you can scare up the extra $$$$, you won't regret it.

went last year and not being able to shower almost goto me. loved the show.
Last year I was camped in GA near one of the "pods" and as far as I could tell each "pod" had a pay shower. It was $10 bucks and hot water while it lasted. You can shower every day for $40 and eat 2 meals a day at centeroo for about $100 bucks.
The VIP is really about being closer to the stages, and having your own entrance and other perks OldLadyRoo mentions in my mind.

I really cant wait. im pretty convinced. just have to convince some friends to go for it. I should be nice not to have to wait in the horrible lines to get in. thanks.
when we were there we spoke to a bunch of people who had vip bands...they did not think it was worth the price. although they did look abit cleaner than most they still felt the price is way to high for what you get. I know that I ate corn dogs for 5 bucks and some mean meals for under 9 so it def didnt add up the the price tag they put on it. Also nothing beats the $1 grilled cheese on a nice munchie belly
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I think if you try to flesh out the dollars spent in exchange for tangible items, it doesn't seem worth it. However, proximity to camp -- for someone like me -- is key.
I know that there is no way I could eat enough food or drink enough reduced-price beer to justify the expense. But I also know that I can't last in the sun all day without being able to refresh with a shower or just go back to camp if I need some down time.
It all boils down to what is important to you, and sometimes the expense of something is worth the convenience and comfort factor.
Totally agree with Sassbox. I know it was definitely more, dollar-for-dollar, but I don't do incredibly well in heat, and I liked being able to go back to my campsite for an hour and meet back up with my campmates later, without having to hike for three years each way.
My wife and I did the math last year and figured that we actually came out ahead w/ VIP when you factor in the money saved on drinks (water and coke) in the VIP area, the money saved on not having to buy or bring a ton of food, and the "free" showers.
Add the complete absence of lines, both to get onto the farm and into Centeroo, the guaranteed proximity to EVERYTHING, and the awesome that is air conditioned toilet trailers, and you've got a combination that can't be beat.
Sure, $600/person is a lot ... but it's still well worth it, IMO.
i plan on going VIP this year. i went GA last year and missed a lot of the acts i wanted to see because we ended up camping so far away. i spent about 2 hours each day just walking back and forth from our campsite to centeroo. not to mention the long lines for showers and portojohns.
does anyone remember how long it took before the vip section was sold out last year?
and how does the vip campsite hold up in the rain?

Rain? ha. But guaranteed that it would be better than GA.
I'm trying to remember how long/wide my VIP campsite was. I'd guess that it was about 25 feet long (15 foot car length + 10 feet for the easy-up) and maybe 15 feet wide. Can anyone corroborate this?
We're bringing a smaller car this year and I'm trying to figure out how well I could fit a second easy-up into the site.
If I could fit two side-by-side, lengthwise through the site, I'd have room to put the tent under one, our chairs and table under the other, space blankets on TOP (not the sides, for the sake of my neighbors) to deflect the heat, and light curtains/bedsheets/tapestries/flags all around the edges to keep the light/heat out but let the breeze in.
Add a deep-cycle battery (like from a boat) and a few strings of xmas lights and I think we'll have a pretty sweet setup this year.
Also, if I have everything straight, I should be able to put the car between my tent and the sunrise, which will be a huge improvement over last year.
Well this is my first year VIP, and I was wondering if any of you guys had tried to sneak a small "pony" keg in or if they even check for that in VIP. I am not going to be vending it (though any of you guys are welcome to stop by!). I am just kind of a beer snob and want some good and fresh beer with me, and I am curious whether they enforce the rules the same way in VIP.
Are we talking a real pony keg or the heniken kind? I would say you can get away with those small things they sell in the stores. A real pony keg would be a lot tougher, not impossible though. I got in some champagne bottles last year for mimosas, but those are a lot smaller.
The only thing I would think is that you are going to go through mountains of ice to keep that thing cold unless you are planning on drinking most of it the first night or so. They do have a bar/lounge in the VIP area where you can get all the delicous magic hat and sweet water beers on tap for the reduced price ($4) and the brooers tent is a really short walk with like 30 different beers on tap. And if it is not so crowded in there later at night, those can be had for less than the going rate if you work something out with the bar keep. Wink wink...nod nod
If it were me, I would say you probably got a 50/50 shot of getting it in. Is it worth the hassel....not even close.
If you can fork over the $$$, VIP is worth it for the bathrooms alone! That you are so close to the main stage, have access to AC in the tent, free food are all bonuses.
true story there were some crazy people last year with air horns who carried a keg in with them to the police through vip.. the restrictions on walking and forth between vip is nothing compared to the lines from ga..and i know im a girl and prissy but anyone have a generator hook up or rv they wouldnt mind me using in the moring to iron my hairlast year we used the adapter in the jeep but were not renting a car this year..i know stop laughing at the ridioulsness of this post...
