okay so i just joined this forum, and i've never been to bonnaroo. i'm bringing a lot of beer (in cans or plastic bottles, dont worry). i'm 21, but i'm going with a 19-year old and two 20 year olds (twins, that turn 21 the 17th...kinda funny/even slight irony here)....my question is, one am i going to get carded at the gate, along with everyone else in the car? and also, the 19 year old looks like he could pass for a 15 year old. are they (the staff or security or whatever) gonna give him/us crap if he's got beer in his hand? i'm talking about the tent area, not centeroo.
and i'm sorry if this is a repeated topic, i'm just not in the mood to scan through all the forums and threads for the one answer i'm looking for. it is, after all, 3:15 in the morning where i am...
I came with a 16 year old before and brought LOTS of whiskey with no problem.
There was a limit to the amount you could bring last year (1-2 cases per person) and may also be this year so that could limit what they allow but I've never had a problem with any amount. Depends on who's searching, I guess.

definitely no problem with getting beer through the gates.... even if you're all minors (like i was with friends in '06 when i went for the first time).
just remember to drink back at camp, as you won't be able to take anything into centeroo.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.

I took two 15 year olds last year and had alchohol in the car (which they did search) and no one questioned it. I don't think they are really looking for that when you go in the gates.

I made it into centeroo with a six pack last year , and I pulled one out of my bag right as a head security guy was walking by, and he looked in my bag and took my six pack away before I even opened one. They are pretty lax on about everything else i saw though.
Yeungling is a pretty good one. Bass, New Castle, Guinness, Bodington's Pub Ale, and Dales Pale Ale all come in cans. Most of those are a bit heavy for the heat, IMO. Last year I was drinking Tecate. Readily available in cans, fairly cheap, and goes down easily in the heat, as do most Mexican beers. I much prefer Tecate to corona, which also comes in cans.

as far as the Mexican beers go, I agree with chefchick they are easily found in cans, especially Tecate. Also I have seen Modelo Especial and Dos Equis Lager in cans. Both very good beers in the heat and much better than Corona.

on a similar but different subject, What GOOD beer comes in plastic bottles and where can I acquire this?
I want to stick to the no glass rule, but dammit...its hard to find good beer in cans or plastic.
YUENGLING!!! Yuengling is sold in Tennessee now! That's a new addition from last year.. I think they started selling them at the tail end of '07! They come in cans, so no worries on getting them in. Highly reccomended yo!

Young's Choc Stout in cans Oskar Blues (Dales Pale Ale, Old Chub scottish ale, about 4 microbrews, all canned) they ARE pretty thick though... esp. for the heat i'll be bringing some mexican beer and whatever stouts, etc i can get in cans. i probably won't be sneaking in too many bottles this year...

How much does beer cost in Centeroo?
Does anyone else who was at B'roo in 2002 remember if you could bring your own beer into Centeroo or not? I am almost sure that the only place they use to search you was going into the main stage.

In 02, they even had turnstiles set up between what and which stages. It sucked. They were pretty hardcore about what you could bring in or not.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
