It's not marked off. It's just basically the width of your car by about 10-12 feet. And usually if your neighbors arent taking up a lot of space they won't mind if you use a bit of their space. One good thing to do is swing wide when parking your car so there is a good bit of distance between your car and the car next to you.

Yes, it's a hammock. I always bring a hammock to sleep in. Comfy!!
It's got it's own stand that snaps together. I lucked out and got it free off freecycle.org. (I also got my truck camper for free from the same place. I sleep there if it gets too cold, wet, dusty)
