I've read there is a tent only section in VIP...are you confined to this if you don't have a vehicle?
Seeing as we have paid for a vehicle pass we won't be using, I figured it would be sweet to get a nice spot in the RV area and barter with the neighbours. Use all the space on our site for a little bit of shade or maybe the odd trip into AC. Tents don't take up much space and we'd basically double somebodies site, makes sense to me!
They have a tent section for people car camping with tents and an RV section. They got kinda intermingled last year. But this is mainly for your pleasure so that you aren't in your tent and have a huge RV generator blowing exhaust right in your tent and keep you up all night with the noise.
I've looked over the VIP Info and have a couple questions that I could not find answers: 1) How are the spots allocated? I will be in a car. I hear you must go to the Holiday Inn. 2)If it is first come gets the best spots, when do most VIP campers arrive and/or leave Nashville to get there? 3) Other than the RV w/tents fiasco last year (I assume this will not happen in 2008), are there less than desireable tent areas in VIP?

Yeah thats a good question, I also wonder if you drive into VIP will you be able to leave when you want in your car, or are you packed in so tight, leaving is not an option. I plan on camping, but since i live so close I may want to leave and go home to clean up and take a break, then come back later. Will my spot be gone? Will I even be able to get back in?

Go to the Holiday Inn. Stand in long line. Get bracelet. Sit in long line to get in. Park where they tell you. Left to right, front to back.

We left Nashville at 7:30 AM. Got into set up camp at 2:00 PM A bit of a CF with VIP last year.

None

Plenty of room to drive out. Leave your basic stuff and ask your neighbor to watch out for you, and unless I find out when you are gone and where you are camped ;D should be there when you get back!

HELP! If a pair is flying in and taking shuttle to VIP, can they use a whole "carpass" site in VIP? or is there a smaller site since they are not with a car?
I have read that each camping site in the VIP area is marked with spray paint on the ground. Does someone know the dimensions of the camping sites in VIP?

I have found the 20 x 50 dimension also but that was under RV camping. Are the VIP RV and non RV camping sites the same size?
Last year it looked like they combined cars and RV's (at least where I was). I'm not sure if it was an accident ot not, but either way all the spaces were the same size.
I mean we had plenty of space, and there's more than enough room for an RV.
About getting a good spot, I think whereever you end up is good. If you end up near the hospitality tent you're close to food and the main stage, but if you're closer to the back you're near the showers and washrooms. Either way I didn't have more than a few minutes walk to either the hospitality tent or washrooms/showers.
I was camped in the VIP section in the far corner that ended up being only tents, I liked it that way, very quiet and could hear the music from the what stage perfectly. My only complaint was it looked like the first area they mowed, so we already had some weeds popping up, about shin high, but what harm can you find in a little weed at bonnaroo so that was no big deal.
Well anyway I remember the size of our site was marked off but wasn't quite as large as 20x50. I had a 24x36 tarp that covered both our tents and didn't use all the length so I think it was a little closer to 20x30. Still plenty of room though we had a huge 12' screened tent and our large 10' tent, and still a little room to squeeze the car halfway in. However we took up ALL our area. One neighbor was right on our line, and the other just brought a small backpacking tent so he let us go over his line a little, but he hung out in our shade so it was all good.
Here's a pic of the campsite and it might help...you can see the line and we are definitely over it.
Tents and rv's were mixed last year because they messed up the rv passes and the companion passes. They started telling people you needed a companion pass for your tow vehicle. That was a totally F up. You didn't, so not to mess it up further, they gave everyone the same sticker for their car. Hopefully this year it will separate back out to rv's together and tents together. We were in a pop up with all tents around us.
