Just a quick tip.....Buy a pack of dust masks, just like the ones that a Doctor wears when he is operating. I used a Bandana last year and wrapped it arounf my face. It just didnt keep all the dust out of my lungs. There was a TON OF DUST. Look at some of the White Stripe pics, it loks like its getting dark. The mushroon fountain water was mud brown. It was the dust. I saw a few smart pepole wearing them last year. Another perk is that they are cheap and come in packs of 5 or more. So if ya dont mind looking like a partying Dr then your good. Id rather go for the Dr look than hack up brown dust goobers untill mid July
it never hurts to have them but don't count on this year being as dusty - depends on the amount of rain they get between now and then - last year was a horrible drought - this year - I think it was "local" that posted it - he said they are on track or nearly for rainfall this year

I'm a local, about 40 minutes from Manchester, and yes, last year should not happen again. Tennessee was in a TERRIBLE drought last year. The farm where my family gets Christmas Trees lost 90% of there trees, so the effects of the drought were felt way through Christmas. We've already gotten more rainfall so far this year, and it should get on back on track!

Yeah, we're actually getting a good amount of rain this year. It's been raining in Knoxville all day, actually. Our lawns are greener now, in the winter, than they were all summer.
But I just saw a chart saying the area is still in severe drought due to the low groundwater from 3-5 years of drought. The plant life is still fragile and recovering.
Of course none of this matters now. The weeks/months leading up to Roo will decide the dust. Maybe they will water the roads better after last year. Either way I'm buying a pack of dust masks. They are very cheap. In fact I should have about 50 of them left from when we remodeled my Mom's house so I may have lots for everyone.
Besides, my gas mask would be waaaaay too hot.

There's no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard. No song that I could sing. But I can try for your heart Our dreams, and they are made out of real things Like a, shoebox of photographs With sepiatone loving Love is the answer
A little feeling in my gut that I get of late when I think about these cats running the world with hate

i was looking on the farmers almanac last night for a long term weather predictions but it cost $5 bucks for a PDA file of the whole year, other than that it will only give you a month before. lame. i could easily find one in a store and just look at it for free.

For some reason the dust really didn't bother me and I have mild asthma..... I didn't get sick afterwards either.
I only realized how much dust there was when I got home on Sunday night and my hair and my eyelashes were almost white......... And also when I looked at some of my pictures there was a haze in most of them that I assume was the dust.
If we keep getting rain a few times a week I am sure it won't be that bad again this year.

I didn't notice the dust too much last year. I dont know why because everybody says it was horrible. But I didn't get sick, I could breathe fine, nothing bothered me. I know I was covered in dirt/dust the whole weekend. I thought I maybe had a tan but it washed off when I got home. lol
