You can definitely go shirtless, but you may want to opt for a loose fitting tank-top or something. I wear a white coolmax material loose tank with broad shoulders. That Tenn sun is brutal, and the last thing you need is getting sick from sunburn, which I have seen before or getting heat exaustion. Take care of your body and your body will show you the greatest 4 days of your year!!! Enjoy your first 'roo!!!
I sweat through a shirt at Roo in about three seconds, why bother bring any. If you go through the buffet at VIP you should put one on. No dripping in the corn please!

Yes new ladies need to look through the photo sections from past Roo's.You'll see just how many guys and gals went shirtless or just brought there birthday suit. But in a crowd of 80K strong, your going to be touched, and moreso the closer you get to those stages. Not trying to be rude or anything, but this is just a fact.
haha yeah . why do ppl say its soo hott is it really that hot or are u guys just used to it being cooler i mean i live in georgia it gets kinda hottbut not like unbearably hot

Yes it really is that hot. I live in Nashville and am pretty used the steamy TN summers but spending 3 whole days out in it with little shade is very harsh on the body.

I live in GA too. It's not any worse, if you're used to standing in the sun all day when you're around home, you'll be fine.

anyone can go shirtless if they want! or bottomless.... or painted blue.... anything goes at roo
If you go swimming in the pond, please put on some shorts, I've been warned that there are huge hungry snapping turtles and catfish in there, as well as very aggressive cottonmouths.

another quick question how much do you walk if your doing the car/camparea thing?
It depends on where they put you - and it seems to be totally random. It could be a 10 minute walk if you are lucky or they could put you out in BFE and it could be 30-45 mins. I ended up out there the last time I camped and it was a harsh walk - if that happens just make sure you have everything you need for the day and stay in Centeroo the whole time.
Also you need to take into account the walking between stages. There is a whole lot of walking!!

i love heat and im used to tennessee heat, however, its very flat t here and i think all the cars out in the camping area just magnify the heat. yes its very very vyer hot...even though august is hotter here in tennessee - id say that its pretty bad at roo. i wore bathing suit tops last year - lots of girls did.
Ummm shirtless of course but i would definitely suggest wearing sunscreen... cause otherwise you will turn out looking like me after less than a day... this was me after walking around thursday morning/afternoon in '06 didnt even think about wearing sunscreen, i was crispy, and i was pretty white before that... bad

Yeah, usually when it's dead hot in the summer, you're going between home and work, in your car, or maybe you're just outside for half the day, maybe some kind of water activity.
The difference is when you take the air conditioning and pools/lakes out of the equation, and you are outdoors for three or four days. The heat really starts to accumulate, and it can wear you out.

I'm going to repeat the sunscreen warnings...DO NOT forget sunscreen! And remember that if you jump in the fountain, it'll wash your sunscreen off and you'll have to reapply it.
One of my friends got so badly burned on Thursday last year that by Saturday it had turned into a bunch of blisters and overnight the blisters threw a huge party and by Sunday morning they had all merged or something so he had one huge blister the size of an egg. (Yeah, that's disgusting, sorry). So PLEASE, if you're going shirtless, remember the sunscreen!
well i dont necessarily think you need to "go tanning", you just need to remember your sunscreen! I'm pretty pale and I was fine all weekend
yeah but who wants to spend all that time putting on sun screen.?
I dont really think it takes that much time to put it on and the spray sunscreen they have now is really refreshing!
i dont know why you wouldnt put it on. you're talking about your health and happiness.
my boyfriend REFUSES to put on sunscreen and he got really badly burned. I managed to get him to put it on his face, on his ears, and chapstick on his lips but the rest of him was burn to a crisp.
and after that he will be wearing it and reapplying it this year.
