Hey folks, I've got a 10x20 carport tent that I was thinking about bringing this year. Is that too big? I need about twice that to set it up initially.... Tear-down can happen in just about a 10x20 space....
It should be okay. Even if you have a really small place you can put part of it over your car. Just set it up as soon as you arrive and be respectful of your neighbors. If you have to, share some shade.
Thanks! This should be very cool and easy to spot. I'll have a (superquiet) generator running a projector that will shine on the tent like a big movie screen. I'll just need to be ready to set up ASAP.

As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Having a big canopy would be a great way to make friends at the roo. In 06 our neighbors tried to make a half ass canopy with their car and failed miserably. So we invited em over and we hung out the entire weekend!
a big canopy is def not a problem. we had an average size canopy last year and our neighbors didnt bring any shade so both of our tent openings faced inside the canopy. No one will mind if it is a little big as long as you share the shade

I always bring extra tarps for neighbors to use. It's amazing how many people have no shade. Last the 3 people next to us were shadeless. I lent them each some poles and tarps and had about a dozen best friends for the weekend.
Getting to know all your neighbors also helps decrease theft as everyone knows who should be there and who's a stranger.

I will be bringing a 10 x 20 carport. I bought this from a guy off craigslist for $60. dallas.craigslist.org/rvs/575177295.html I ended up talking to the guy for an hour about boats and cars and stuff.
alright, this thread could be a good place for my question. We're going to be catching a shuttle in, so I'm assuming that'll get us into tent only. Am I correct? If so, there are 7, maybe 8 of us. We are planning on setting up 2 tents, both approximately 10x18 plus a screen room/shade tent that is around the same size. Is this being greedy? Obviously the shade tent will be pretty much a public area.
get to tent only, and set em up before anyone else gets there!!
theres no such thing as greedy in tent only, as nobody is telling you where to camp. just set up and have fun! and those tents don't sound too big to be sleeping 4 peeps each, so... have fun!!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

sweet. We're planning on getting there as early on Thursday as possible, so from everything I've read, we shouldn't have much of an issue.

Nah, you should be fine. You might have to put it over part of your car, due to the length. Your westward neighbors should love you in the mornings, though.
Also, if you're in tent-only, it's probably safe to expect your pad to be the main hang-out for lots of folks.
Just wondering, what constitutes a 'pavillion tent'? I have a 10x20 carport tent that I am planning on bringing to Bonnaroo this year. Will I be allowed to bring it in and set it up? I am planning on covering my camping area (including my vehicle) for the weekend....
Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo. You will have a 10ftX10ft space next to, behind, or in front of your vehicle. You may only use that amount of space to set up any tents. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes, a pavillion tent is something you hold a revival in. Think 50 or more people.
Some groups have gigantic campsites...I've seen couches and astroturf (like at putt-putt). Notice that the e-mail says a 10x10 space per car, and not per person. The more cars you have, the more space you'll have...if you're coming from a long way away, that sucks, but if you can pull it off, bring as many cars as you can. You'll get ridiculous space.
Last year me and two others came in two cars, and the people to our left camped at tent-only. We had unnecessary space. We even let a group of five or six girls set their tents up next to us, and there was still a ton of room.
