I'm pretty paranoid about getting stuck in BFE. I was mostly wondering how long the walk is from the parking area to tent only (might have alot of crap to drag around).

I agree that it all depends on where you are located. I know that if I were in BFE, tent only would be a better option.. but if you're not that far away from Centeroo-- lugging your stuff to tent only might not be the way you want to go.
Although like ajalfon, some people swear by tent only. :]
I Dissagree. We are coming 7 deep. I like it in BFE.
I've liked BFE the last two years also - but the walk - the walk - the walk - man - I cannot say it enough - the walk is a tough thing after a long day in Centeroo - plus the idea of being able to wander back to camp and chill for a little while is just a great thing

I am a tent-only die hard no matter how close we get parked. We have a large group and are able to configure more optimally in tent only. Of course, we get there early to have the space to do so.
The only thing I've ever felt was a drawback to tent-only is not having a car to lock things in when we leave camp. Since we don't bring anything that can't be replaced it isn't that big a deal for us.

Wait, so you would get into whatever campsite, and then you have the option to walk to tent-only? Or you have to go there right as you get in the gates?

tent only doesn't really get full untill friday, but that may have changed what with the VIP expansion and all, but i'd say get there anytime on thursday and you will probably have plenty of space

You park where they direct you to when you get there. It could be 10 minutes from Centeroo, or it could be a 40 minute walk. You have the option of camping next to your car or carrying your stuff to tent only.

Tent-only was packed last year by Thurs afternoon. We had to negotiate with people to save space for our friends who were stuck in traffic. Our camp site was rockin', though and the between-show beers were totally worth it.
this year will be my first roo and my friends and i are debating on whether or not to do tent only. i think the general concensus is that we'll probably do it unless we have a really prime parking spot. my question is, what's the likelihood that something could be stolen from your camp site since you wont have a car there to lock up some of your stuff? i think we're planning on bringing a stereo and probably some other random things that may be better off being locked away in a car.
I've done tents only every year and i wouldn't have it any other way. This year im actually bringing an rv so im kind of worried about getting put in in BFE, since i've been so close every other year.
But if you plan on going tents only and you have room for it, make sure you get you one of these. This is the best bonnaroo investment i've ever made.

thanks. might look into getting one of those. what do some of you do about valuables or any sort of expensive objects that you need at your camp?

You might as well get the yellow cart unless you just don't have room. i think i paid $80 for it. the fold-a-cart thingy would be nice since it doesn't take up as much space but it also only has two wheels so it would be a little harder on ya.

No need for anything fancy. Go old lady style with a grocery cart. It'll haul a tent, shade tent, a few chairs, and miscellaneous gear. You can get them for about $20.
^^An old lady up the road died and I got one of these at the family's yard sale for $1. (Nice lady. Used to take her extras out of my garden) Looking forward to using it for the first time at Roo this year.

^^^^ Even better! I borrow my Mother's (an up and coming old lady), who has a collection of various carts. It's light, folds up flat, and gets the job done.

The folding kind are handy, but you have to make more trips if you have a lot of stuff. And you have to watch where you roll a little bit b/c the wheels aren't as sturdy as the heavy duty carts. Both are better than nothing, though.
