Want to know if it is possible for Arlene and I to have two sites? Due to the fact that we want to set up a porta garage you know 10 by 20. By claimming that we are camping seperately yet we intend to set up our site so that there will be six out side tents with the big tent for shade in the middle.
depends on how many cars you have - each car is entitled to a 10 x 10 space
Best advice - pre prepared to "claim" your space as soon as you park and if more then one care - have the additional cars swing wide when they park - not wide enough to piss people off but wide enough to have a little extra space

Ya were bringing a extra car But this year for a lil bit more room. But Ive never heard that each car gets a 10x10. It seems like we had it a bit bigger than that. we had 2 cars that were parked side by side in the row and we set up 3 tents and some shade in front of those cars. Somehow the third car ended up parked behind another so we kinda lost some space with it. Prepare for the unexpected.
Where will we be camping / parking? Are we going to be able to camp next to our cars? Camping space will be provided in front of or behind each vehicle. NOTE: Each vehicle will have a camping area of approximately 10 feet by the width of your car. You will not be able to save spots. If you plan on parking/camping with your party you must arrive together.
every section is pretty much parked differently. You may have been lucky if you got a bigger spot. Last year we barely had enough room for a 4 person tent, plus shade. Our neighbors couldnt even fit a shade tent, so they had their tent open up into our shade area. It just really depends on where you get camped.

I've got a real gripe about this . . . In '05 I went and had no problems. They pretty much just guided us into rows and the cars were allowed to space themselves out. We had plenty of room for a tent, and to put up our chairs next to the car. But I noticed some people took up significantly more space than my group. Like people had full on canopies and elaborate screened in enclosures. I was jealous, and vowed to improve my site the next year. Well, in '06 it was even more of a free for all than before. I was with a large group, so we had two cars. We parked a descent distance away from each other. We had enough room for two tents (a 12 man and a 4 man), as well as space to put out chairs and create some shade with a tarp tied between the two cars. But as I looked at other campsites I noticed even more elaborate creations. The people in front of me had a full-on screened in gazebo. I must have been 30 feet long and 15 feet wide . . . again, I was jealous.
Last year sucked. Unlike the guided free-for-all of year's past, someone actually directed each car exactly where to park. The cars on either side of me were literally two feet away, it was like we were in a parking lot. In the row in front of me, I noticed that people got about 10 feet of space on both sides of their car. Certainly not very much room, but enough for a tent and some chairs and all. I'm not sure if the bimbo who told me where to park just screwed up, or what, but I found myself with barely any space. The row behind us pulled up pretty close, and the space in front of my car was already consumed by the people in to row in front of me. My point being, they gave my literally enough space to open my car doors and pitch by 12 man tent behind the car. Literally no extra space. My tent stakes had to go under my car and the car behind me, there couldn't have been more than 4 square feet of unoccupied space at my campsite. Well, needless to say, I was pretty pissed. I had the gazebo, and no where to put it. But even worse, I had no space to lounge in. There was no room for a single chair or a grill, or basically anything other than may car and my tent. Well, there was no way I was hanging out in 120 degree tent all weekend, so I moved my tent into the space between the GA camping and the back of the Vendors. This freed up my unused space for the people around me, and gave me enough room to pitch my gazebo, although I wasn't supposed to camp there. The vendor I camped behind let me put up my tent so long as I agreed not to let anyone else do it, so I was lucky. But if this happens again this year, I'm going to be angry. I don't need a lot of space, but I need more than just room for my tent.
last year my friend was driving and she saw that they were parking us in really close together. somehow she swung the car at the last moment and actually parked sideways taking up 2 parking spots. it worked out great. we had more room for our tent and that gave our neighbores more room too. probably pissed off the people directing the cars but no one camped near us minded
We got pretty lucky last year, I think. We were right in the middle of Camp Han Solo, and the guy let both of us swing wide when we parked...my friend swung really wide. I also noticed that the rows were parked pretty far apart. Then, the two ladies next to us went to tent only, so we had a ton of distance between campsites.
Your best bet is to bring multiple vehicles, but I know that's not as much of an option for people coming in small groups or from far away. It can still be a gamble, too. I guess the surest way to ensure that you'll have space is by planning to get there early and go to tent only.
^that sucks, where were you camped, detective? There were some kids near us with a TINY tent. It was a two person tent and they had 3 people. and they could not find ANYWHERE to put it. They ended up putting it infront of someone elses car (like 2 cars over) who also had a small tent , but the space they had been given was gobbled up by bigger tents in a matter of minutes.

wow, we were parked towards the far end of han solo and had a totally different experience. it was quite cramped compared to a lot of sites that i saw.

So make sure you claim your spot fast!
If they'd have found us, we'd have had the space. There was a group of six girls who we let set their tent up there, even though they only stayed for half a day or so. And even when they had their big tent up, there was enough room for a couple more, easily. Crazy how it can be so different within the same camp.
^hmmmm yeah, that is weird. We were in one of the last couple of rows of the camp, so maybe they were trying to shove more people in at the end.... or maybe at that point they had a different parker. Who knows.
I was comfortable though. as long as we have room for our tent and our shade, im happy!
We had a ten car convoy last year, and somehow we ended up camped in a big circle with about 20x50 space in the middle of our circle of tents. It really comes down to knowing when to ignore the parking volunteers, it is not like they are cops or security or anything. We had about the same amount of space 10 cars should have had but in a configuration that was just awesome.
In ga its a land grab. As soon as you get there you have to jump out and grab as much space as you can(respectfully of course). If you don't claim space it will get grabed by someone else.

^^Tents and Quick Shades always come out first! We lay the tents out on the ground first and then put the shade tents up. That way people can tell how much space we're going to take up. Then we can take a little more time actually pitching the tents.
