I bought the selftitled one from 2002. At first I must say I was a bit disappointed because the whole album is slow and it seems as though Chris has mellowed greatly. It's like James Taylor revisited. I didn't know what kind of music it was cuz had never heard them before and expected something more rocking with maybe some alternative sounds.
BUT as far as the slow songs go, they are top notch. I've listened to it a few times and am really enjoying it now. "Silver car" is a really cool tune. With Chris's soulful voice, it really can pull the emotions from you. So in this particular album don't expect a rockfest, but the slow songs are really pretty good. Really good lay-in-a-hammock-smoke-a-bowl-in-the-sprintime-sunshine, relaxation music.
i actually first heard of him last year when my mom was listening to that cd in the car. as far as my moms music goes, i liked it. now i find out theyre playin this year bonnaroo, should be cool.

Man, do I miss the Black Crowes. I've seen them at least 10 times. They were such a good band, until the end. Their last album was weak, and quite weird, and I LIKE weird music. I'm psyched to see Chris and New Earth Mud. I hope they rock out as well as play ballads. This is my third Bonnaroo. Can't wait!!!! See y'all there!
I'm a huge NEM fan and have seen them perform live a few times in the past year. The self titled album is OK, and even CR has said it was a "mellow effort". Silver Car is an awesome tune, as is Sunday Sound and Barefoot by the Cherry Tree.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by NEM's live performance at Broo this year. They put on one helluva fantastic show with LOTS of energy!
