This is easy for me because Im from Chicago and Umphrey's is as well. They are always playing in the area, as well as free shows. Vida Blue is a definete go for me, ive never seen them, Page is my fav, and I have a feeling that Trey and/or Fish will come out and play..........wwwwwwaaaahhaaaahaaaaahhaahhaa!!!!!!
(that was my evil laugh). if youve never seen Umphrey's, they are a hell of a show. Late night too, you cant lose. Try to see both of them..
I've seen Vida Blue several times and Umphrey's a bunch of times and, IMO, UM blows Vida Blue out of the water. UM is much more of a technical band with many composed arrangements and will put on much more of a rock show. VB will be fun too, but fun in a Page way without the precision and intense jamming of UM.
I just saw Umprey's last Thurs for the first time and it blew me away. They went from original jams (crazy jams) to classical to metallica (that was so weird but pretty cool). They'll be fantastic late night!!
Oh and they're originally from South Bend, IN.... they moved to Chicago a couple of years ago and picked up a new member there.
