ok, i know that the best set you saw may have not necessarily had the most energy, so these are my three, how about you guys?
1) SCI: 10 rows back, dead center, tons of people there just grooving hard. when i looked back, i just saw people as far as i could see. the stands were packed and everyone was having so much fun
2) JMP: people were so into their set. It seemed like covering zeppelin was the order of the weekend at this years roo and "going to california > what is and what should never be" was so on point
3) moe.: awesome playing, ive seen them a few times and they were on fire at roo. i think a lot of people who were seeing them for the first time were blown away, even my friend who wasnt too crazy about them when we went in, was a fan when we left
Vida Blue w/ the Spam All-Stars. I know when you think of Vida Blue you think of quiet jazzy little jams. These were loud, raucous, and full of energy. The tent exploded in glowsticks when they started playing. That bass player was soloing and singing what he was playing, what a machine!! The flute player was red hot. They passed the jam back and forth and then back again. All those guys and gal are extremely talented. If you missed em this time, make sure to catch them the next time around.
It wasn't necessarily the most energetic. But David Byrne sooo surprised me. The only reason I went was because I just wanted to spread my blanket out, check out MOE than sit and wait for Trey. I am soooo glad! He was awesome.

i know, i wish i could have seen vida blue. my friend said it was nuts, but after leaving jersey at 1 pm on thursday and getting our camp set up at 10 am friday, and sleeping only 1 hour in between, i was ready for bed. oh well next time i guess
Kings of Leon had an extremely energetic set. Pure, raw rock n roll. They were rocking out so hard during their last song "Trani"... it gave me the shivers. I hope that one makes the 04 DVD.

robert randolph tore the roof off. peelander z me and a few of my friends walked by about a half hour after their set and they were still on stage talking. also kings of leon was awesome.
New Monsoon was a pleasant surprise for me and a great way to start the weekend. They had that tent going CRAZY. A first rate banjo player + a first-rate tabla player backed by a great jam band. Not a bad idea.

And they played "Fearless" from Pink Floyd's "Meddle".
