I was wondering if anyone out there saw Yo La Tengo last year... I really wanted to go, but I got deagged into seeing Bob Dylan instead last year.
I know YLT had some killer competition, Dylan, SCI, Chris Robinson, Gillian Welch and Mike Doughty. But lately I've really been listening to YLT and I was wondering how the show was, if anyone remembers any songs they played or whatnot.
I caught a few songs of thier set. I honestly cant remember what they were(must have been the heat) What I saw inspired me to see them again, when they came around to Lancaster, last fall. See em if you get the chance.
I stayed for about 45 min before I headed to Dave. The show started out a bit slow, but then they picked it up just before I left. I don't really know their music to say what they played, but it sounded good from what I saw.
This was one of my favorite sets last year along with Wilco, moe. and David Byrne.
I hadn't heard much of their music at the time, but people I was with convinced me to catch the last four or five songs of the YLT set despite the busy timeslot. I was absolutely blown away and it was the most fun I had in one of the smaller tents all weekend. I was amazed at how much they "jammed" but the only song I remember for sure had a repeating line about nuclear war. I would love to see a setlist for this and was really looking to download this show over the summer but never found it.
Last year's show was amazing. I've been a fan for awhile and couldn't believe that I actually got to see them. During the song "Nothing but you and me," they did sort of a Motown performance. It was awesome.
