I picked up the CD today blind for $8. I'm a few tracks in now and digging it.
I wouldn't really know how to describe it. It's poppy, musically interesting (songs take interesting little twists and turns), some nice vocal harmony, I really like the bass playing, especially the tone and the way it sits in the mix (foregrounded where it should be!). Just some well done tunes that are good fer listening too. I'm definitely pleased that I picked this up.
I started to poke around the net and saw they'll be playing down the street from me on April 1 (Double Door in Chicago). I'm circling the date.
Umm, yes....they are great. I "got" that album when it first came out. Keep listening to it, cause it'll definately grow on you. I saw a little thing on "On Demand" about them. A short documentry with a couple of live songs. They sound really good live. Oh and they're British, so that's a bonus.
The first half of the album trumps the second half in a serious way, but that's only because that first half is just so great. They played at Schuba's a couple months back Ka Mai, but I wasn't able to get out to it. From all accounts, they put on a really fun show.
a friend of mine saw them open for doves in the uk last year. the music is definitely poppy but not in a bad way. they're all sorts of fun and the lyrics arent bad, either. good dancing music. i believe they'll have an early day spot.
They'd be the ultimate early day act. Nothing like some jangly geehtahs and harmony drenched vocals to start the morning off right! I remember driving to work over the summer with a bit of a hang over, sipping my coffee, and popping in this album. "Mornings Eleven" bowled me over and my lack of sleep was no longer an issue.

With all the hype about this album I expected more from it. I have not been real impressed with it so far...thats just my take so far. I will have to listen to it a few more times.

I am extremely pumped for them to play! I've learned about a lot of new artists since the lineup came out, but they are by far one of my favorites. "Mornings Eleven," rocks my world so hard. ;D
