I checked out his website and thought I would share this info. This tour would run up to may and this could be something to expect from him this year:
Elvis Costello is heading out on an orchestral tour where he will perform with many of the finest symphonies in the United States. The first portion of Elvis Costello’s performance will feature his full-length orchestral work, Il Sogno. After intermission, he will return to perform a collection of his pop and rock hits. Come see one of the world's finest singer/songwriters in what promises to be a phenomenal event.

Awesome!
I don't see Elvis on the Rumor Schedule yet, so maybe he is headling Saturday and Petty is the pre-headline spot. This would be similar to Trey's set in '04.
Neither my boyfriend nor I are big fans of his, but we figure it wouldn't be right to not go see him (assuming, of course, that he's not playing against someone we'd rather see). The orchestral stuff sounds really cool. I wonder if that will be part of his 'Roo act.
It would be pretty sweet if he did end up playing with an orchestra. I might check that out, but otherwise I would probably just check him out for a song or two.
If you've never really given Elvis a chance this will be the perfect time to do so. He is one of those artists who doesn't settle and just cash in on his past work and name. He is always evolving and trying new things with his music, and has been making some of the best of his career recently. 2 years ago i saw an all jazz performance with him just accompanied by piano, last year was an all out rock show with the imposters, now he is doing his orchestra. Give him a chance please, you won't be dissapointed.
That's a really good endorsement. I appreciate an artist that is willing to change and grow (that is one of the things I appreciate most about both Beck and Radiohead). We definitely plan on checking out his show.
I don't think he has played a show less than around 3 hours in a long time. I always get the feeling he just doesn't want to leave the stage. Don't stop paying attention during the show because you might miss him step away from the mic and belt out accapella to the audience, although it might be a little too loud for that at bonnaroo in the middle of a field. It is usually one of the highlights of the shows though, espescially during Scarlet Tide. It's not all about Elvis either his long time bandmate Steve Nieve is equally as impressive on keyboard, Piano, and an assortment of other instruments.
