sorry this is kind of random but why arent the mars volta on the list yet or do u think theyll be added anytime soon, because i know last year they were a huge hit and were many people's favorite show, does anyone know if there is any chance there going to play
Revolution is not something fixed in ideology, nor is it something fashioned to a particular decade. It is a perpetual process embedded in the human spirit. -Abbie Hoffman
No way to really tell. The people at Superfly don't really seem to have a rule that they stick to. They claimed Tea Leaf Green wouldn't be playing this year because they didn't want repeat bands yet MMJ is there for like the 4th straight year and this is Umphrey's 3rd straight year, 4th overall. By not inviting Tea Leaf back it seems like Volta shouldn't be back either but now who knows because there are plenty of repeats. Not complaining about any repeats cuz MMJ is ok and Umphrey's are my favorite. Just commenting on what I've read and heard.
I still think it is a possibililty. Let's keep our fingers crossed! I'd love for them to play since I missed Bonnaroo last year. The Volta never really comes around to the South, so it'd be great to see them. From what I hear their shows are out of this world.

they should ask Secret Machines to come back before mars volta...i think a lot of people went to see mars volta hoping for the heavy rock pscyedelic experience that Secret Machines did much much better then Mars Volta.
but thats just me...
I wouldn't complain if they got asked to come back, that would be pretty sweet.
i'm not familiar with the secret machines, but i can't imagine someone doing the mars volta thing better than the mars volta!
i'm not holding my breath, but it would be great if they came back. last year, i hadn't gotten big into the mars volta yet, so we kind of hung back some. if they came back, we would be right up front this time!

well they are not doing the "mars volta thing", they do there own thing but its much more trippy, spacy, smoother and psychedelic then Mars. Mars Volta is much more metal then secret machines. Much more metal.

Personally, I like the Mars Volta, but to keep things fresh, I'd really like to see another sort of mind-blowingly different band hit the late night stage:
I saw them on their tour before the release of Agaetis Byrjun and again right before the release of ( ). Both times were completely stellar, but very different. The first time, they were relatively subdued with their stage presence, but lugged around a small string section with them that was just amazing and extremely lush. The second time, they had incorporated the imagery projected on the big screen (which they still do from what I've read) and focused on a more "rock" rumble for the big crashing climaxes. While I've heard mixed reactions of their more recent live performances, I can't imagine a Sigur Ros show in the Bonnaroo environment being anything less than life altering! Unfortunately, I think the Coachella commitment makes the chances pretty slim.

like i said, i'm not really familiar with the secret machines, so i was paraphrasing what it seemed to me like you were saying.
i'm listening to a secret machines song right now, though....i don't know if i would say the mars volta is more metal; more acid rock maybe?
so far, i still like the mars volta better, but the secret machines are not too bad....i might check them out if they did come back

Sigur Ros.
That would be a beautiful thing.

Sigur Ros is playing by me monday, and i wasnt to sure if id check him out. This makes me much more interested in attending.
I could ask for nothing more from Bonnaroo than to add the Mars Volta. So far the line-up is great and the additions are heading almost exactly where I want them to go. If the Mars Volta played another late night set I would be at it in a second. Last year the set was so good (especially, Roulette Dares) that my brain had to reset and figure out exactly who I was and if I knew my own name.

AMEN BROTHER, i would love to lose my mind in a good dose of Omar & Cedric (and god-damned Jon Theodore, that guy can drum!) ADD MARS VOLTA!!
I saw Volta open up for System of a Down in Worcester, MA and I was content with the show after Volta finished. Just them alone made the show sick, and System was killer. I was shocked with the intense jams they pulled off, and the vocalists foot moves were mind boggling.
I missed Volta at Roo last year; DMB tired me out and I didn't know anything about Volta except that they were called by Rolling Stones "The New Pink Floyd ". MY brother was like"NO WAY", so we made an attempt to check them out, but almost fell asleep waiting for them.

I would like to see some other pscyhadelic rock bands added this year if Mars Volta is not, or even if they are. There is quite a large scene of these bands, none of which sound like Mars Volta as they are not as heavy. I would like to see some Brian Jonestown Massacre or the Warlocks (even with the departure of their star guitarist). Maybe the Lab Partners (more shoegaze then psych) or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Morning After Girls...
Check out Bomp records if you get into any of this stuff. They know where it's at.

Yeah i was not the guy who got carried out, do you guys remember what the lead singer said before they started playing, wasn't it something about not getting shitty with him, and sometimes well you gotta take a shit or something like that.

I just remember him saying that they couldnt get power or something and that the gods were against them. This ended up not being the case, as the show was sick.

If I remember right, I think they started to play and the power on stage cut off and they stopped dead. After a delay they got it going and didn't look back.
I don't remember what he said right after the power went out, but while it was out, didn't he tell this joke?: How do you hide money from Omar? Put it under the soap!

I have no idea what he said, other than the gods didnt want the show to happen, i was a little not myself. I do remember him chattin it up though, and sounds like something that wouldv been said.
