You know why all of these losers are dissing DMB it is because when you are on top people are going to hate you. If you don't like Dave fine but you don't have to open your stupid uneducated mouths and say the man and his band are not talented and all people who watch DMB are drunk. That would be like me saying all the people who watch widespread smell bad and eat acid. Opinions are like aholes everyone has one. PS- 2 days of widespread at the roo last year give me a break talk about being washed up I almost fell asleep they were so boring.
I dont think anyone said his band wasnt talented, because they are. What people are just saying is that his talent lies in his songwriting and vocals. And way to play into the cliche, jees.
whoever said that dave was drunk last year must not have been at the dave and friends show two years ago. he was drunk, high, trippin' or a combination of all three. nothing he said between songs made sense. his exact words at one point were "someone asked me where i was going this weekend i said i'm going to the bonnaroo. they said what's that. I say it is what it is. it is where it is. and everybody's going to be there." now take about fifteen shots of tequila and try to say that as incoherently as possible. I like the music (except the new album), but dave and his fans need to stay off the sauce.
I dont know what festival some of you folks were at but there was just as many intoxicated people at every other show as well, that being said since when are these guys that are performing 4 us not allowed to live and have a good time as well. From what i remember there was a whole helluva alot of people have a good time when dave and the boys played last year they sounded excellant which is more than i can say 4 sum of those other bands that i saw(gabby la la for a prime example sucked huge donkey nuts)

the local dave shows can draw in a bunch of drunk frat boys thats true, but its a good big show. I live in a college town and its to be expected. Most those drunks are probably not even really music fans. I didn't have one problem with any DMB fan at the last roo, they were all cool as hell. I welcome all you dave fans to our bored...lets not pick on each other because of who will like. Who are we to tell someone else what to think is cool. No need to point out smaller artist who "sucked ....blah blah"
I like Dave, but I think he's definitely past his prime. Though I don't get the whole college-age-following phenomena lately. And hell, even he agrees.
I think the point trying to be made (it was a little rough around the edges) is that we shouldn't stereotype people or try to put "Dave fans" in some kind of grouping - people really resent being stereotyped. Personally, I like Dave and I'd go see him if he was at Bonnaroo. He's not going to be there, and I'll be at Bonnaroo anyways, because I like the other groups and the atmosphere. I'll start drinking as soon as I wake up at Bonnaroo, and it has nothing to do with me liking Dave or not. But please don't try to classify or put me in some category - thats not what Bonnaroo's about. If we all go to have a good time and respect each other, regardless of what bands others like and what they do to have fun, we'll all have a good time.
nice point didnt mean 2 be rude I listen to a wide range of music from hip hop 2 country and everything in between, been to the last 2 roos and have tix to 06 just didnt like dave and the boys getting bashed on these boards.

I would like to add a little to the people who think Dave is drunk at shows. Dave often speaks in gibberish and acts extremely goofy on stage. I mean have you seen how the man dances? He is often labeled as "high" or "drunk." Honestly I am pretty sure he is very rarely messed up while on stage. It is his stage presence, he is goofy and frequently talks incoherently. DMB fans have termed this goofy talk as "Davespeak." In fact people often get recordings of "Davespeak" and try to decipher it. They are often times very funny. If you have ever listened to a Dave and Tim Reynolds show, Dave tells stories and rambles on for minutes in half coherent and incoherent speak. This isn't to say he isn't messed up on ocassion, but it is probaly less than you think.

great post.
im in the same boat. Im no Frat boy, never went to college, but im a big dave fan, and get annoyed by those people, and by the teens going through their Dave Matthews Stage because they heard 'I Did It' On the radio (worst DMB song EVER)
i feel a lot of dave fans are like me, but it gets over shadowed by all the tools out there.
Dave Matthews in an actor and a musician. Often times he is both at the same time on stage. He plays a very good drunk sometimes on stage.. especially during the intro to Dancing Nancies in recent years. I've seen them play roughly 27 times including Dave and Tim gigs and I have never seen him play in a fashion that made me thingk he was the least bit innebriated.
Damn, I'd really like to see what Dave thinks about his fanbase.
Also, about the goofiness, it's true that Dave speaks weird and stuff when he's offstage. I don't know whether or not he gets high or how often he does it. I personally don't mind. I won't say anything else about his fans.

Well, it's confirmed now. I just got an e-mail from the Dave Matthews Band mailing list that says that he will be in Saratoga Springs, NY on the 16th and 17th and Charlotte, NC on the 20th. This only leaves the 18th open for his performance at Bonnaroo, IF he is going, which does not seem likely.
ill see him at Hershey pa and Camden nj. And probably try to go to the scranton pa show since Umphreys is opening for them. OAR is opening in hershey, and Gomez in NJ

I think i might check out some g love now and see how i like it. I do like the milk and cereal song, fun stuff. I like gov't mule, but iv seen them a few times, and i dont like them that much. Even though i've seen dmb so many times and i dont really think his concerts are very exciting anymore, especially at germain, its still nice to go out of ritual. Plus, all my friends go, so its a nice big party. Maybe thats why his fans are so typically drunkards, he must just tour too much.

Yeah... I know I've been pretty hammered at every DMB concert I've been to...
Oh, and as far as G Love goes, check out "Kick Drum," "My Baby's Got Sauce," "Kiss and Tell," and "Gimme Some Lovin'." Those are all great songs. "I-76," is worth a mention too...
i cant ever understand the problem with dave...its just popular to hate on him.... his shows at bonnaroo have been killer... so what he likes to have a good good time while he tries to do all of it i think it adds to the show... and as for hating on daves fans i dont get it.. although i ahve only seen him at roo so i realize that thats a different group then a normal dave show..... everyone said dave was gonna ruin roo with his drunkeness and his drunk fans and yet hes had the two biggest turnouts that ive seen at roo....and i had no problems with any fans.... whats the deal about drunk fans?? who isnt drunk or partying in a hard way at a show.... if yer not up for a party stay home and listen to a cd.. i know that both his roo shows get lots of playtime in my rotation that being said i think its good hes not there 3 years in a row...
