Recently I have been REALLY into the Flaming Lips. They're just such a good band to listen to when you're high. Anyway, I strongly believe that they should be added to the lineup. It would be so amazing to see them there.
I've also gotten totally into the Lips in the past couple years. alway kinda liked a few of their songs, but after seeing their live show, I was completely hooked. I've seen them 4 times in the past 2 years. They're unbelievable live. Your life will be changed. I shot some amazing footage of their set at Vegoose. If they get added to roo this year, I'll dance a jig
I'm a huge fan of Yoshimi but it's the only album of theirs I have. What's some of their other stuff that I would probably like if I liked Yoshimi?
Yoshimi's great but I like "The Soft Bulletin" even more. It came out a couple years before Yoshimi
Also, I highly recommend the documentary dvd about the lips called "The Fearless Freaks" definitely NOT your typical rockumentary, but then, the lips are definitely NOT your typical rock band

Yeah, The Soft Bulletin is their pop masterpiece...I've got a leak of their new one, At War with the Mystics.....I don't think I've totally got my head wrapped around it yet, but it's...well...funky?
I second "The Fearless Freaks" too....it gives you a good overview of the band, and is interesting and enjoyable throughout.
I still haven't seen them live, so they're #1 on my Bonnaroo wish list!

I've just been listening to Yoshimi lately... Other than that I am starting to listen to Transmissions from a Satelite Heart since it's got "She Don't Use Jelly," on it. Ben Folds does a cover of that song, by the way...
I've been listening to the Lips for quite sometime and would love to see them at Bonnaroo. Sadly, I don't think that is going to happen. They are set to play a festival in the UK 5 days after the 'Roo. Now this by no means puts it out of the question that they would play in TN a few days before there flight, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I live in Seattle, and they are playing here in May. I will be missing that show, because of Bonnaroo. I made my choice before they signed on to Sasquatch Music Fest, and I'm not too upset with my decision. Some of these festivals need to start getting there line-ups out a little quicker, so people like me have a harder decision to make. They might have gotten my money, but they waited too long.

Yeah that's a great cover of a great song. Last fall we saw Beck do a gorgeous acoustic cover of "Do You Realize" Maybe he'll do it again for us at roo
I REALLY like the new album. Yoshi was good, it definately had some really good songs, but it was kinda hit and miss. The new one seems to flow better from beginning to end. It reminds me of old Todd Rundgren. A Wizard A True Star type of stuff. Maybe not that crazy, but catchy none-the-less. I need to listen to it, in a different state of mind, if you know what I mean....huh...yeah...you know what I'm talking about

This is exactly the reason Bonnaroo pushed the announcement up to late january/early february the last few years. They need to sell alot of tickets to pull it off. To sell alot of tickets, they have to announce early enough, and with a good enough lineup, that people think about travelling longer distances and skipping their local, unannounced festivals. Most festivals wait until around end of winter, early spring to announce their lineups anyway.
And I can't be the only one here who saw the Lips 2003 late night show! There has to be someone here who sang Yoshimi with me.
