:oJust wondering what everyone is expecting from Oysterhead. Are they going to play the songs from their only album. Maybe some phish songs? Some other Les songs? I can't imagine that Oysterhead will come out with any new songs, Les is busy enough with his new CD and new side project (Fancy Band). Maybe they will play a lot of covers. What do ya'll think? ;D

The 2001 Oysterhead shows were fairly static in terms of set list, after all, they only have one album, and I some how doubt new songs will be busted out just for the Roo. I'll expect one, maybe two new covers, either immigrant song, house of the rising sun, or all day and all night, and their album fare. If it turns out they will be doing a whole tour, or releasing an album, forget everything I just said.
Yea i love that whole CD....maybe rubberneck lions? some Mr Oysterhead and Army's on Extacy will be sweeet...Oysterhead is my favorite band and when i saw they were comin i about crapped myself....Score!
Shadow of a Man is what I want as well. But all of their songs are amazing. They could be playing variations on the theme from Doctor Zhivago, I'd still be ther ein first row.
check out setlist.com and you'll see that pretty much every Oysterhead show has the same setlist, maybe the order changed up a little. I expect the same thing at 'roo...which is a good thing, because their sets are pretty much the whole album.

^i am definitely hoping to hear a majority of the Oysterhead songs, but I'm also counting on some variation. Its been 5 years. Why come back and do it all the same?
If it is just a one-time deal, I expect the same as 5 yrs ago...I just don't think they'd write any new material for one show and no album or subsequent tour....maybe a couple new covers thrown in, but as for original songs, I just don't see any real variations. Hopefully I'll be surprised....nonetheless, probably the show I most want to see.

^I definitely don't plan on new Oysterhead songs. I think these three artists have progressed a hellof alot over the past 5 years though so I guess my expectations are a little higher than the band they put together in 2001.
damn i guess im the only person who thinks they might have a new song or two... im sure they will play the whole album.. as for the covers named here they would not be new... i have immigrant song and house of the rising sun in my oysterhead playlist....im hoping they do ahoy there.... the part where he says "are you sure your in the right place" with all the trippiness it would be sweet at roo
keith, when you say new songs do you mean a song written recently or some of the unreleased stuff from their album? I don't think it's that farfetched to hear Ahoy There or We're Here, but I would be really surprised to hear a song written for this reunion.

^It would have to be unreleased, there is no way they have written new songs. I didn't consider unreleased songs, that would be cool to hear some original oysterhead that no one has ever heard before.
i meant new songs.. im pretty sure they will do everything thats out there.. gpo plushouse of rising sun, immigrant song, ahoy there, were here, the israelites, grannys little yard gnome, and wildwood weed included, its bonnaroo they gotta bust everything out(is there something im missing? if so id love to know).. but i really dont think it is too farfetched to think that they might have a couple of never heard before tunes... at the very least i think we will get some covers we havent heard before but im still hopin for completly new oysterhead! also they covered tommorow never knows with frog brigade (its 17 minutes with a great rant by les in the middle )...im hopin for some sweet collabs with someone i hope they are a latenight so they can play a while and oh ya it better not conflict with umphreys mcgee/disco biscuits late night!!!

its kinda of a defeatist attitude to say there will be no new songs....think about it....its been like 5 years, they got somthing up there sleeve....
I most definatly agree...it has been a LONG time...I'm sure they are excited to play together again and they seem to have a great musical chemistry and I'm sure they will come up with a few things
I really think they'll have at least one or two new songs. Like somwherbtween said i dont think they would come back and just do the same thing all over again. These 3 guys are highly creative and im sure they can come up with some impressing new songs.
oh my, such wonderful oysterhead talk... i get a buzzing sensation in my tummy when i imagine standing in the crowd looking up at oysterhead.... watching Les' beautiful, beautiful, oversized hands slapping and tapping and plucking away...oh yeah, that's right - INTENSE EXCITEMENT!!! I'd love to see 'em bust out a primus cover but tbh, i'll be extremely happy whatever the hell they decide to play!!

i havent heard anything about it... and it would seem that none of them would have time in their schedules to have done that or do it between now and roo... they were together a few weeks ago if i rememeber correctly...im thinking a couple new songs... but i dont see an album or tour in the near future... also they are pretty good about havin announcements like that on their webpages before its announced anywhere else
