I caught Andrew here in Atlanta about a month ago. If you have not heard any of his material I would recommend checking out The Mysterious Production of Eggs. His live show is excellent. It was him and a drummer. Andrew plays violin primarily. First he starts to pluck, then starts looping that, then he starts playing it with the bow and starts looping that over the plucking. Then he swings a guitar around and starts playing and singing and whistling and playing the glockenspiel. All in all it is a fantastic show. He has a good stage presence and some catchy tunes. So if on Friday (when he is supposedly playing) if you have no conflicts go check him out.
Andrew is incredible. I've followed him for much of his career (his early albums are very different from recent ones- all good tho). I've seen him with SNZ and solo several times. He's the consummate musician and a really great, genuine guy. His music has a sincerity people would kill for.
He popped up at Jason Molina's last show at Schuba's in February and performed a handful of unfinished new songs after collaborating with JM on a few tunes. It was a great surprise and his new material sounded great.
