Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Anyone notice that there are practically NO women on this year's lineup? Aside from Bonnie Raitt and Grace Potter (I know that Cat Power is on there, but I still think she's going to back out), there are a few lesser-knowns that will probably grace the side stages in the early afternoons. One exception may be Bettye Lavette (who I could see fitting right in at Sunday's Superjam).
What's the fucking deal? There are plenty of talented female artists - especially since Roo is obviously booking talent from outside the traditional jam band genre... how about some kick-ass female folk singers - Ani has played in the past, Beth Orton and Gillian Welch have played Roo.... I think it's sad that there is no one from this (already under-represented) genre in this years lineup.
I agree that it would be nice to see more women on the bill, and I think Bonnaroo really peaked in that area in '04, when it seemed like they were making a concious effort to focus on female artists. Here's a few from this years list in which women play significant/leading roles that haven't been mentioned:
Sonic Youth Nickle Creek Amadou and Mariam The Dresden Dolls Robinella I-nine
It's far from ideal, but along with Bonnie Raitt, Grace Potter, Bettye Lavette and Cat Power, its a better representation than you get at a lot of other festivals.

Not that I've ever seen or heard of Joni Mitchell doing a live performance, she's still around here somewhere, and I would sell my car to see her live. It's a nice car too.
Ani is planning a comeback this summer it appears - it will have been almost a year since her last show... She's slated to headline the Folks Festival in Telluride in mid-August.
I hadn't thought about it, but you know who it would be amazing to see at 'roo? Norah Jones. I don't really lsiten to her Cd's, but they tell me she's great live, and I'm a great fan of her guitarist (who plays bass for Sex Mob).
I'd like to see the Waifs. They're not an all-female group, but I think the girls sing most of the songs.
Toshi Reagon would be great, too. I suppose she's better known on the East Coast since I think she's from NY. I don't think she's too well known in California, but she sometimes plays the Strawberry Music Festival in Yosemite. She gives a nice show.

She was actually there at the first 'roo.
I would like to see Nellie McKay back. In 04 her set was alot of fun. Also, it would be nice to see Kaki King there again.

Not necessarily her style, but Tori Amos would be a really cool add. And also, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be sick as well, they would make for a sweet late night spot.

I saw Toshi open for Ani and she had everyone's attention and singing along. If you see her solo or with band see her. She has a very strong voice and plays a mean accoustic.
Fiona Apple is a rumored artist in negotiations to appear. I would love to see her.
Ka Mai mentioned Nickel Creek. Check them out if you don't already know about them. www.myspace.com/nickelcreek Sara Watkins is the female in the three-person group and her voice is beautiful.
I've been digging Tristan Prettyman alot lately. I saw her with John Butler Trio last year and just recently went back and listened to her again and I really think she'd be a good midday tent show.
I'm willing to bet my bonnaroo ticket that Jenny Lewis and the Watson twins will be added - Her album is getting alot of publicity and Rilo Kiley was one of the best sets last year (imho).

I really like the album and I agree that Rilo Kiley was one of the highlights. I really hope Jenny Lewis is added.
