"What we're trying to do is a bunch of shows with different artists that either we like or think would be an interesting show," Petty manager Tony Dimitriades tells Billboard. "One of the main things we're doing is a bunch of shows with Pearl Jam. We're also talking to John Mayer about doing some dates, as well as the Strokes."
My Morning Jacket opening for PJ, then Petty and PJ playing together, PJ has dates open for Bonnaroo. Hopefully Pearl Jam gets announced. I know a lot of people in the Bonnaroo crowd probably don't like them but Pearl Jam puts on a great live performance.

If Pearl Jam is added to the lineup, does anybody think that they will play a 5:30-8:30 slot before Petty, and then Petty would play a 9:30-12:00 headling slot? I know Pearl Jam usually plays around 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so this would fit them well, and there was some concern from some people about whether Petty could fill a 3 hour slot. So this would give him a 2 1/2 slot.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

I wasn't really into Pearl Jam at first, until I saw them play at the Bridge School Benefit (an annual benefit concert in Mountain View, CA thast Neil Young puts on) in 1994. That was also the first time I saw Tom Petty live. I remember laying down on the grass to rest a little, and when I opened my eyes Pearl Jam was finishing the song "Black", the sun was setting, and these two guys standing over me were passing a joint back and forth, and I kept getting a whiff of it. It was kind of surreal and very zen, for lack of a better word. It was the first time I'd ever really listened to Pearl Jam. I've liked them ever since.
Tom Petty is one of those artists who likes to show his appreciation for other music, either by having them do shows with them or doing some covers. I've seen him do a bunch of Rolling Stones covers and last summer he did a couple old 50's rock songs.
He also has a radio show on XM Sattelite Radio. I don't have sattelite radio, but he posts his playlists on his website, and I've used that to discover more music. He plays a lot of classic rock old blues.
