Tom Waits
Man, put on a song like Christmas Card From A Hooker in Minneapolis, Romeo Is Bleeding, Kentucky Avenue or Wrong Side Of The Road by Tom Waits and you’ve my attention for the night.
For my money Tom Waits is one of the best storytellers/musicians out there today and if he where to be at Bonnaroo I think I would come close to downloading in my pants.
Picking my favorite Tom Waits album's one of the hardest things I could think of doing. Frank's Wild Years was my first, and a great introductory album, I might add. 'Alice' and 'Foreign Affairs' also have to be right up there on the list.
The man is also on the Anti label which includes this year's roo acts: Bettye LaVette, Elvis Costello and Blackalicious. Honestly, I would love to see Tom Waits drop in for the New Orleans tribute, but his appearances are few and far between.
Of course, as far as the Anti label is concerned, I wouldn't mind seeing Merle Haggard, Buju Banton, The Frames, Neko Case, Solomon Burke, Michael Franti, Nick Cave or Daniel Lanois do some sets...
When my dad was looking for an artist to perform the theme song of his movie, the main actor spent two weeks in San Miguel de Allende looking for Tom to do it, and couldn't find him.
My favourite CD would have to be Alice, very closely followed by Mule Variations. Maybe tied.
What's He Building In There would be a great jam...
I heard "Warm Beer and Cold Women" about a year and a half ago, and since then Tom has become my favorite musician hands down. Top albums for me are Rain Dogs and Nighthawks at the Diner.
And I think he would fit in perfectly at 'Roo, if only he played more than one show a year.

not to change the topic here but on the subject of storytelling and Anti Label, i think Henry Rollins would be an interesting addition to the comedy tent, not sure if hes still touring or preparing but it would make my year to go see him standup at the Roo'

unfortunatley, there is almost no chance he would play bonnaroo. He doesnt do the festival thing, although he did do that Katrina benefit last year, and that was put on by superfly (i think). Plus he RARELY plays live anymore, and that is mostly in Europe.
