i went to their website to check em out ..see what they are about... from what i can tell they are about hard to use websites and soft core, homoerotic stripteases set to bad covers of bad songs, or just bad songs playing in the background.... the drummer did seem like he was pretty damn good(the small percentage of the time he actually played), although it seemed she mostly played two finger keyboards.. maybe its just their website and the content i could find/make use of.... im going to try and download some of their stuff and give them a better chance(their website is so slow i cant take waiting for it again)i assume seeing as how they are at roo there as gotta be something more to them, maybe i just got the wrong first impression... anyone know of them and have any recommendations?
PS. i got really excited when i heard the music start but it turns out that was just their introduction music...what was to follow was nothing of the sort

I picked up one of their albums (self titled), and I really liked it, personally. I gave up on their website real fast, but the album is good. I'd recommend Girl Anachronism, Perfect Fit, Bad Habit, and Coin Operated Boy as a couple good starting points to listen to.

Still have not picked up the album but the live shows are really good. Bonnaroo will be my 4th time seeing them live. yes it is good enough to go back again and again.
And yes the website is really tough to navigate...

I love the song Missed Me
funny story, with this girl for a short time who really liked the band and loved this song, she used to make me give it to her while she put the song on repeat...kinda strange but it worked for her..
theyre a pretty intense live band. the singer/pianist has a broadway/caberette background and their drummer brian was in mostly metal bands before this project, and hes got more stage presence than most any drummer ive seen preform before. deffinitly worth checking out

Yea i went to their site and saw that video of the striptease and some of the other things...they sound like they would be really good and the drummer looks like he does have some skill...would like to see them actually play instead of play...if that makes sense...lol...I will have to check em out, they seem like they will put on a good show.

it kinda seemed like they were trying to put on some type of show as opposed to a concert.... i know i dont go to roo to see someone with stickers on thier nipples and men dressed in lingere (sp?) stripping to bad music .... well maybe concert goers but not as an act.... i hope they play more music and less awful theatrics to madonna and sunny and cher covers.... i think their website is just not representatvie of what they are about(why would they do that?) it seems like they are trying to interest mainstreamers with nonsense but their website is far too dificult for any of them to figure out

well nothing... but the fact is that the vast majority of the people at their tent wont be able to see whats goin on anyway, and if the theatrics apply in some way to what your doing then its ok...but softcore homo erotic stripping set to madonna and bad covers of sunny and cher are not really bonnaroos thing imo....once again i think their website is just horribleand misrepresents them.. but i think alot of rooers checking them out ofr the first time will be turned off... i wish the jukebox would start working again so you can be properly intorduced to these bands, although i would expect that form their own website as well

You will see a great show, not some softcore porn show or bad covers. No sonny and cher covers, nothing like that. They dress up a little and thats it. Check out the show, you will enjoy it. There is not some huge show you'll miss of anything like that. It's all about the music duing the show they play.

well then why are the videos on their website stripteases and bad covers? just seems like a bad move... i guess they should change it to be more representative of their act... and they should make it possible to use...if you go to their site my suggestion is to look for the sitemap button.. just start clickin on shiit you should find it. it makes it possible to find what ya want... im going to head back and go through the pain of checking out the videos i havent already to see if maybe it is something i would be intereseted in...

all right.. i couldnt stand using there website again... however off of the google search it pulled up quite a lot of easy to access info at a little site called mtv.com i think ive learned quite enough about dresden dolls... but i didnt even give up on them yet.... the myspace page www.myspace.com/dresdendolls has what you would expect... i couldnt find it before until google showed me, my space search didnt show it when i did a dresden dolls search... i think maybe it needed a the........anyway it is not my cup of tea..the drummer sounds like hes got some skills but its just a bit too simplistic and childish sounding for me... couple that with the "theatrics" set to bad music i think ill skip it...but to each thier own....
mtv is everywhere this year... i wouldnt be surprised if they show up
Post by keithk1055 on Mar 28, 2006 12:17:03 GMT -5
check out their website.. the theatrics i am refering to our in their video section and are from a live show, if ya can find them and take the wait to watch them...its not like its their mtv video it is from a live perfromance

damn, all you talk about is 'mtv' and 'mainstream'. it seems like you post enough here (negatively) that you are just trying to get peple pissed...so im not gonna bother with too much of a response. i just wish people had more of an open mind. Try listening to some tunes first instead of judging based on a video or a website. You say you are trying to give them a shot but when people who actually know the music and have seen the shows tell you what it is really like, you just incite more arguments...i dont get it.

I don't know, I have seen the band 2 times before and it was a show. They had some stuff on the stage and had nice outfits on but that was it. I can't watch the video now but I'll check it out...
Why is any band that develops an image suddenlly a gimmick band?
To my understanding keith's dog was hit by a MTV truck. And since that time he has been on a crusade in internet forums against MTV. Fight the POWER! ;D (Oh crap Public Enemy was on MTV too)

I'm sorry dude, but seriously when the f*ck was the last time you saw Radiohead on MTV? This talk about roo bein all MTV and sh*t has gotta go, incase you havent turned on your tv in the last 5 years, MTV does not play music, nor do they even give a flying f*ck about Bonnaroo. And come June, I highly doubt you will be complaining about anything when you are basking in the glorious Tennessee sunshine, and not one thing you are saying is even happening.

i did listen to their tunes... i made an effort to check them out.... i listend to all of their songs ont their my space page and i dont like em... sorry bout that...and the radio head comment was just made to be a dick.. i know they arent played on mtv i just lump them in cuz in my eye they are a draw for that crowd....anyways ive checked em out and they arent for me so im done with this thread...
and i will never forgive downtown julie brown for running over fluffy!NEVER!!!!!!!
in regards toe the sonny and cher strip tease, i was at that gig, it was their halloween show a bit back. they did a few lame covers in costume as a joke and tore into an intense set that included an intense war pigs cover. ive seen these guys af ew times and from what ive heard avbout the website, it deffinitly doesnt depict them in their true form, so dont hold that nonsense against them. they do an authentic show that shouldnt be missed.
well it would make more sense if it was a halloween show, i wish their website was able to convey things like that, or anything at all for that matter, still not my bag but it does expalin some of what i saw..... i hope everyone enjoys an awesome show! if there isnt anything else scheduled i will try to swing by and give them a proper chance, i have been turned off by bands on the internet or even on cd and loved them live, in fact some of the best shows ive seen were people i wanst very interested in

thats the spirt! I don't own any albums from reallly any "jam" bands but I hit up most of the shows that go through my town and have a great time. Sometimes live is where its at my friends
