how about a "90's tent"? We'll count Sonic Youth for the 90s, throw in Cypress Hill, Blues Traveler, Rusted Root . . . if PJ adds (although they'd def be on a stage).
Oh man this is driving me absolutely crazy. The Cypress Hill/Sonic Youth thing rang a bell, but I knew I didn't have Goo back in the day, so that didn't sound right.
It's lyrics for "I Love You Mary Jane". Now I know that song like the back of my hand, but its not on the two Cypress Hill CDs I have (the first two).
I am now vaguely remembering some kind of alternative bands play with hip hop acts thing that I used to have (early-mid '90s). For some reason the only other thing I can remember is Sir Mix-A -Lot with Mudhoney. I can't remember any album art or anything so I must have had a tape. I've been poking around the internet and can't find anything. I can't imagine why I would have had this at one point but don't have it any more, but when I look at those lyrics in the link I know every word of that song.
I've got to say, I was kind of hating on the Cypress Hill add internally (haven't listened to them in ten years), but flipping through some websites and old CDs I started to hear a voice from my younger self saying "What is your problem old man, it's freaking Cypress Hill!". There's also a lot of love over at the listserv for DJ Muggs recent mashup stuff.

its official... the roo apocalyse has happened... sonic youth + cypress hill on the same cd as slayer!!! Anyone else reminded of that sweet-ass South park episode when they put Slayer on to get all the hippies to leave??? ...
