This is kind of a random thought...but when all of these bands that we love dearly are NOT playing...what do they do? Do they just lounge in their hotels? Do they hang out? Do they walk around centeroo with the rest of the crowd?
I dont know if I can imagine someone like Thom Yorke or so walking around in Centeroo...
Has anyone at past Bonnaroo chilled out with the fans? Does anyone have any stories of running into any band members around centeroo?

Not only are the artist walking around catching acts, their quite crows friendly. Last year seem to be the most artist I've seen just hanging around. I got my pictures taken with Robert Randolph (face to face) He jumped over the front row gate at Mars Volta, just after his sit in with Dave. Great picture, I'll scan soon to show all of you. The lead singer from Rose Hill Drive, and I sat and watched the secret machines together for awhile. I got a picture of the two of us. I was too whacked out to stay and talk! Also saw the dude from Iron and Wine, and of course MMj boys are always walking around. You can also greet, meet, and chat and get autographs throughout the weekend at the sonic stage area. Matisyahu, Herbie Hancock, Xavier Rudd are just a few autographs i got. OHH, also, sometimes aftert he show on smaller tents, the artist will sing autographs to the side. Ray Lamontagne was almost in tears as he hung out and talked to the joyous fans after his kick ass set!
So There definitly out there, you go to just recognize!

After watching part of Matisyahu last year, my friend and I walked over to the tent that Dr. Dog was playing in(which hardly anybody was there because they were all at Matisyahu) and after a few songs my friend turned to me and told me that he thought the group of people behind us were members of My Morning Jacket(including Jim James). After a few quick glances I told him that I didn't think it was them because I didn't recognize any of them(which the only one that I would probably recognize would be Jim James, because of my horrible memory). We finally left and went on with our day, and when we went to watch MMJ later, we realized that it was indeed them standing behind us. The reason I didn't recognize Jim James was because of his haircut, which the previous times I had seen him it was long.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

haha thats awesome Element Guy... what was wrong with it?
I dunno, it just what I had not expected. As bad as this sounds, I remember reading his setlist the next day, and saw that he played Highway 61 Revisited. and I seriously had no idea or recollection that he played it.

This wasn't at Bonnaroo, but I think I should share this story...
A friend of mine went to Merlefest in 2004, and the special guest for that fest. was John Paul Jones. Well, he gets pretty well gone on some shrooms, then wonders on down to the campsites by the river. Well, he hears a small group of campers playing some bluegrass. He walks down there, sits by the fire, then all of a sudden notices John Paul Jones jamming with the band on Mandolin, down by the riverside, in the middle of the camp. Nobody said a thing, they all just watched.
When he told me about it, I thought for a moment, then started singing the lyrics to Uncle John's Band.
"Come hear the Uncle John's Band by the riverside Got some things to talk about, here beside the risin' tide..."
i spent the evening chilling with al schnier(moe.) last night. its good to be from the hometown of my favorite band. great guy as always. moe. is one of the best sets on this lineup if you havent seen them, get out there and catch them
I mean, seeing John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin in a campfire bluegrass jam at 2 a.m. in the morning while high on shrooms is surreal enough. The connections with the Dead song just complete the weirdness though.

Last year (I can't remember name) but the comedian who opened up for Jim Bruer in the comedy tent smoked a bowl from one of the audience members while performing his act. The crowd went crazy.
i can tell everyone right now that the guys from steel train plan to spend the entire weekend at the festival checking out music when they arent doing artist oriented stuff
