I had this crazy idea.....I would be real cool if we could set some sort of world record at the Roo. With something like 90,000 people you think we could find something. Post your ideas
I think Carnival in Rio tops that, but not sure. What about hula hooping, handstands or something like that. I personally suck at both, but I don't know if amount of alcohol consumed goes over to well with this Guiness, but that is what I'm good at.
The hug doesn't cost anything. And who doesn't enjoy a hug? I think we should do both the hug and the bubbles. Though I imagine the bubbles would be a little cooler. My vote is we do both! On the Guiness website there is a form you can fill out to let them know you're interested in breaking a world record. Should we all go out and fill it?
How about the worlds biggest mass moon? There were only about 20,000 of us at Nudestock in the mid-80's and we made The Guinness Book and Rolling Stone with that one! We can call it our election year gift for ole George.

I really like the bubbles idea. That would be really great.
Is there any way we could get the good folks at SuperFly to help us spread the word/set up a time?
As a practical matter, I think I've got an idea about supplying materials:
In stead of relying on everyone to bring their own bottle of bubbles, we could just make up a couple buckets of the solution (it's only dish soap and water) and give people little dixie cups of it. Now we just need that person to come through with the 6,000 dixie cups...I know you're out there. Somebody with an "in" in the paper products industry, perhaps?
And the wands....
But I know we can find a creative solution to this.
it'd probably be just as easy for everyone to stop by the dollar store on the way and pick up some bubble solution w/ wand for a buck. i think it'd be a hard number to beat, if it were accomplished. great idea btw fluffhead!

I think everyone should just bring their own bubbles.... they're like 59 cents a bottle. I'll be bringing some extra bubbles cause I'll be blowing bubbles all weekend, so I'll have some to spare for people who want to partake.

i love my hugs but i agree that'd be too dangerous.. someone would get hurt and that's not part of the Bonnaroo spirit. plus we don't want that bad press.
the bubbles sound great..they're cheap...the only thing is getting people to bring some...
what about people saying Rooooooo? don't know if that could be considered a record though....
i'm down for whatever..let's just get superfly to make a decision.

Someone on the listserv had another cool idea for a record breaker: the world's largest drum circle. I think it sounds like a really cool idea, I can't even begin to imagine what that would sound like! I did a little research, and there is no current record for world's largest drum circle. The closest record to that is: The world's largest Japanese drum ensemble, and the record for that is something like 1,850, so I figure we have to at least beat that. Can you imagine like 2 or 3 thousand drums going all at once?! ;D
I think if we can convince the promoters at roo to supply bubbles when you pick up your map at the gate(how much can bubbles be..really?LOL) Then we do the record maybe just before or during the Dead's set on Saturday when no one else is playing and the majority of the ppl with be gathered in one spot. That sounds like a plan.
im all about the drum circle idea, that would be so insane...a million bubbles would be pretty cool though...if it comes down to it and nothing gets organized everyone on the board should go buy like $50-$100 of bubbles to pass out at roo and figure out a show for everyone to bring them and yea wow even if guiness werent there itd be tight

I hope no one is offended by I took the liberty of emailing Bonnaroo about setting this up. They did not take this seriously at all. They sent me a response that said:

Another great idea! I think we might have a hard time convincing them to supply 90,000 people with bubbles though.

Totally. The more emails they get about it, the more they'll see how serious we are about this, and the more likely it is to happen. While we're at it, we should take LI Guy's suggestion and try to get Superfly to try and supply us with some bubbles!
