part b - the heat. yea i know its tennessee and i know its summer and its hot and all that shyt. but come on. doing this during the summer is just such a bad idea. IMO it would've been a lot better during the fall or possibly even later in the summer. when the heat wakes you up at 9 and wont let you get back to sleep (especially considering nothing starts till at least 12) thats super gay.
I was thinking the same thing at 7am on Friday morning while lying awake in the sauna my tent had become. And I kept feeling that way all through that morning while trying to find a place in centeroo with any escape from the heat for the next 3 hours or so. It really was hell waking up each morning drenched in sweat. But by Saturday I had come to a conclusion:
Bonnaroo is about extremes. You have to wake up to and stand around in some of the worst heat imaginable and have to make your way through tens of thousands of people and wait in giants lines but then you get to see some of the greatest live music around.
To me this creates the perfect situation. Did you ever go on vacation or to a camp as a kid and when it was over that wave of nostalgia washed over you and you got this really sad feeling that you had to leave and wished you could stay forever? It can be really depressing after a memorable trip remembering all the amazing times you had. With Bonnaroo, though, I didn't get that feeling. I mean, I still remember the outstanding shows but at the same time I can't forget the heat and physical exertion it took just to survive the weekend.
I hope that makes sense...it does to me and it's why I will be back next year as long as the lineup is as amazing as this year.
Also, I didn't think the crowds for the tent shows were that bad. Sure the stages had huge amounts of people but I found that if you came 10 minutes before most of the tent shows you could get at least 3/4 of the way in.

hmmm i definitely had a hard time getting into the comedy tent shows (with a notable exception of thursday night for patton oswald, which was friggin great). like i said i waited an hour and a half in line for the lewis black show at 2 and didnt get in. we did end up seeing him on sunday at 530, but again we tried to get there an hour and a half early, and we didnt get actual seats (not that im really complaining, he was amazing as usual). good point on the extremes...
it appears i posted in the wrong section of the board.... any way to move this thread to the general section other than just simply reposting?
dudes you guys are lucky. there was no heat. i mean sure it was warm. but this year and last year have been the most perfect weather you could ask for. if you couldnt take it this year you just cant take it. i assure you its not likely to ever be better weather then this year was. as for the number fo people i think that is what makes roo so great. and as for the smoke i didnt have any problems. i brought my own but it was all over around us. i had troulbe finding shrooms on thursday. coupldnt get any til friday. we found some shroom carmels on thursday but they ended up being acid not shrooms.

i was able to find some nugs within 10 minutes of my first excursion to 3rd street...it did seem like there were a lot more of the "other" things available though.
as for the heat, i was kinda expecting worse. it seemed like there was NO humidity. I wore a hat with a big brim that kept my face out of the sun and I was good to go. we did have a sweet campsite right on the fence next to the pond so we had a constant breeze coming through which helped a lot
as far as the crowds, i am absolutely fine with setting up a blanket in the back and chilling to avoid the masses. only set i saw where I was actually under a tent was blues traveller...boy was that a hell of a show.
