Sorry if it's been opened before, but I was thinking about Anastasio and about what form he's gonna be in at the 07 festival. Obviously in 06 he was there with Oysterhead and GRAB, and in 05 and 04 in various ways, so what way do you think he'll feature for 07?
I know right now he's touring solo, so I would think that's most likely, but he's also played the fest twice before on his own so I think a change would be cool. I'd be really cool with a one off collaboration, like with Phil at Vegoose.

He'll either be there with his band or he won't be there at all. My guess is he isn't there this year, but you never know. 10K and Langerado got him, but supposedly he will be taking the majority of the year off.
My guess is he is there with the same band that he is playing with on NYE run. Jeff Sipe, Tony Hall, Ray Paczkowski, Jen Harstwick, Christina Durfee, Peter Apfelbaum, Russ Remington, Jeff Cresman, Dave Grippo and Cyro Baptista.
id say its crazy as hell to think that trey wont be at roo. trey being at other festivals have very little to do with anything. he plays everything all the time. he will be there. my best guess is he will headline with dave. or he will at the very least he will be there with his band. personally id be happiest with a grab return. well happiest other then phish. but thats not likely.

i was using the fact that 10k and Langerado got him to say it's a possibility. I think he might be there, but he wasn't there in 03, and every now and then artists do take a year off. I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if he wasn't on the artists list. I keep waiting for that year to rear it's ugly head, but every year, he's on the bill. The last 2 years he's been an "artist addition."
But, I definitely think his band will be there if he is there.

Roo seems to like to rotate acts in and out of rotation. (WSP, moe., etc) So Trey may be out for a year, though I have a feeling he won't be. I'm not huge into his music but I really like him because he always has this giant smile on his furry face when he's on stage. He really just seems to love playing music. Or maybe it's the drugs.
My bigger fear is that they choose this year to bench My Morning Jacket. The saving grace is that Super Fly really sees their success as a reflection of their Roo profile.
Roo does usually rotate it's acts, but Trey is really the biggest face in jam today, he's the closest thing we've got to Jerry Garcia. He led the biggest jam band there was for a long time, and has moderate success on his own tours and playing with Dave and Phil and GRB. When the Tool thing came up, someone said something like "I think Trey knows he'll be there and I think he knows who else is gonna be there" and I liked that.
If the festival were to book three of the four, especially with Page's band feat. Fish getting ready, then I'm sure the rumors will really fly. Trey loves the Roo so I think if he could do it, he'd get them to play (unannounced?) in 07.

As far as the Phish reunion thing goes, it's been talked about hopefully on this board a hundred times or more, but the truth is, it would be the biggest news 'Roo ever saw. However, it is so unlikely that I think it ONLY happens unannounced -- Superjam perhaps.
Yeah, agreed. 3 is a lot, but they are all good and Trey and Jake in particular are very very good. I think they'd have a blast just rocking out and really getting some good string fury going. For me Trey is one of the few guitarists who could keep up with the Stewart ideas, as he's studied music intensely and also has a quick ear from the Phish days.
Someone said something about him playing with MMW? Sounds really good, definitely a trio that could challenge him.
Phish reuniting at roo is highly unlikely... remember... Phish can put on a festival the size of Bonnaroo without any other bands... just Phish. Phish playing Roo would be like the Pittsburgh Steelers just showing up to play against some high school football team. If they did reunite some time this year, then I could see them playing together at roo 2008 unnannounced. They would never play Roo 2007 announced. Not when they can do a Roo sized festival by themselves.
i agree. but it is a nice dream. if phish comes back they should do it seriously. practice. new album. tour. ended with their own festival. but roo could be a stop on the tour. roo has given trey a headline and a latenight when he hasnt exactly been doing his best stuff. (meaning treys late night. not grab which was incredible.) so maybe he could repay them. but a one time phish show would definitely be their own fest.
After the NYE shows, which were the best shows I've seen Trey play since before Coventry, I am banking on him getting a headlining gig in 2007 (hasn't done it since 04). His 11 piece band is f*ckin TIGHT. Seriously incredible shows in Atlantic City over the weekend. So much so they announced they were releasing a live album based on the run. The jams were just insane, and the level of musicianship on stage now is of a very high quality level.
He's finally got a band that can grace the Main Stage and close out a night on it, Just like in 02, and 04. Funny thing is, it's the same band that filled that slot, only difference being he now has a better Bass Player and Drummer in on Rhythm. With a Live Album coming out, I'd bank on his band either playing Late or Headlining.
