Anyone else think Bright Eyes is highly likely to return to Bonnaroo this year? Their set was full of guests (including 'Roo hero Jim James) and I think a lot of people without expectations for the band were won over by the set. Add this to the fact that the band's sixth full length comes out on April 10th with a tour to follow (among the openers for that tour: Gillian Welch). Just seems pretty likely to me, I guess we'll find out on Valentine's Day.

Aha, yes I have the EP and "Four Winds" has gotta be considered the best song this guy has yet written. It's funny you mention Kweller, he plays piano and does backup vocals on the "Stray Dog Freedom" track. Also watch out for "Reinvent the Wheel", that's a song written for the late Elliott Smith. Also, the EP is -- with the exception of "Four Winds" -- songs that weren't deemed fit for the album...which gets me pretty excited.
I'd much rather see him in a tent, then in the hottest part of the day on Which Stage. After being their for Ben Folds and almost dying of heat stroke, it was kind of hard to get into his set. I'd like another chance to see him.
I think it was hard for me to get into his set because of the heat, and because of song selection. I've only got a couple of his albums, but I hardly recognized anything. I know, that's my fault, not the band's. And how could he not have played "When the President Talks to God"?
Anyway, I wouldn't mind another Bright Eyes show, but considering Roo's reluctence to have a lot of back-to-back repeats, I just kind of doubt it.

I vote yes! One of the most memorable concerts I've ever seen was Conor Oberst, Jim James and M Ward, absolutely incredible. I'd love to see him at Bonnaroo again.
I would like it back. Yeah, I was under that tent to the right of the stage (if you're looking at it) and after standing in the sun for nearly anhour for Ben Folds, I took a nap, woke up throughout bright eyes, and enjoyed it. My bud's a big fan though.

same thing with me. i was roasted by the time bright eyes took the stage, i had been out there for half of world party, and all of ben folds. i left halfway through the set, because i couldn't really get into it, and i wanted to check out RRFB
but, a negative thing was the people standing around before they went on the stage. I saw some of the most rude people, people constantly pushing and shoving, and people stepping on and walking through people, trying to get to the front of the stage. that brought my vibe down
M. Ward is amazing. I caught him at 'Roo a few years back and he blew me away. Just an ordinary guy (who I actualy thought was the guitar tech) comes up on stage and .... bam.
I've seen each of them in combinations together, but not all three at the same time. It needs to happen =P.

I know that i'm in the minority here, but I just don't get the Bright Eyes thing. It all comes across as a bit cheesy and melodramatic to me. I would definitely skip a repeat preformance. This is only my opinion. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but it just doesn't work for me.

Have you heard I'm Wide Awake and It's Morning? Lyrically, I don't think I've heard anything like that in quite some time. He writes about so many different things, in just one song. It was my top album in 2005. He can come off a little whiny at times, but what you see as melodramatic, I see as passionate. It just strikes a major chord with me.
