i don't like modern poppy country, but at least he is more respectable than say, Kenny Chesney.
Im not going to sit here like everyone has done with Tool and bash him. He's not my type of music but on the contrary there are people on this board that do. I LOVE that Bonnaroo is offering more diversity and there is something for EVERYONE. Who knows I may end up walking past his set and sitting in for a few songs. May walk away liking him may walk away disliking him, but either way I can say I gave him a chance and to me that is a big part of Bonnaroo.....listening to artists I dont normally listen to.

I've never heard of this guy, but I'll check him out.
In the last five years I've gone from "I like everything but Country", to discovering Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.....to enjoying some Willie Nelson....to enjoying some Shooter Jennings...to trying some current, mainstream country. I listened to the most recent Dixie Chicks album... and I loved it. I listened to Alan Jackson's last album, and I could really appreciate it, some songs I really dug. So I'll try this guy that Superfly signed up with an open mind and let you know what I think.
Anyone care to post a reason they don't like him? That's based on his music?
Sometimes I find it kind of amusing that people are horrified by the addition of people that they've either a)spent some time listening to or b)know nothing about.
Country music is probably my favorite type, but I'm really don't know who this dude is or what he is about. I hate poppy country (like must here do i would assume), but some of those poppy country people actually have strong talents, but at the same time wanna make a buck. Keith Urban, Vince Gill , Brad Pasielly all play the shit out the guitar, but are very poppy. Maybe this dude fits into that model. I'll listen to some of his stuff, but like others pointed out........there's so much damn good music going on at the same time, if i don;t like him i ain't gonna waste my time bitchin about.
I don't know enough about him to say that i like or dislike him, but when he played here in town they played him on the radio the whole day, and like i said, i thought it was respectable.
He's a Vanderbilt grad (as am I) and a big partier (ditto); his tunes are great, and he'll fit in with the BonnaVibe. Don't diss him till you've seen him.
I have a good friend who loves pop country and I must say, Dierks is one of the slightly tolerable ones. That said, I will definitely not be seeing him.
