Lord knows I love this lineup. However the word "diverse" doesn't sit well with me, mainly because there is a severe lack of jazz (save for James Blood Ulmer, props to elmorejames for that tip). Last year's jazz constituency was quite sparse (although with Frisell, MMW, and the Flecktones, still rather strong) and I fear that Bonnaroo's continued pursuit of diversity for some reason doesn't include jazz. But who knows, perhaps they will be adding more.
Any other jazz cats out there that want to see more on the lineup, and if so, who?
I'd really like to see MMW + Scofield. I really like that album of theirs and they have been touring. They were added to the Wakarusa lineup after the initial lineup, so if they get added I'll definitely be pleased.
I don't really know much about modern day jazz, though, I don't really get out of the classic stuff much. I do know there's a group called Acoustic Alchemy that dad discovered out of the blue six or seven years ago that I'd love to see. They're small, and I don't know if anyone here has heard of them, but I think their music would be great to chill out to between rock sets.

I could do with a bit more jazz on the lineup. How about bring Joshua Redman back, or Bela Fleck w/ Chick Corea, or a Skierk project, or even John Zorn.

Nice call on Vandermark, if a bit unlikely.
While having John Zorn on the lineup is almost totally out of the question (I imagine he's pretty expensive, plus he's such a maverick), it would surely send a message about what kind of clout Bonnaroo has and where they stand in music history.
On the more likely side, I can never stop mentioning how good The Bad Plus' '04 set was, and how much I'd love to see them return. If not them, perhaps their sister group Happy Apple? They are one wild, kick-ass trio. And of course Matthew Shipp and the rest of the Blue Series artists, although I still assume there is no one else on this board who listens to them.

karma for the sleuthing I was too lazy to do.
So, what jazz legends do you see as a good/likely fit for Bonnaroo? I'm thinking Chick Corea, especially now that he's touring with Bela and Bonnaroo loves to grab every Bela incarnation. I could also see John McLaughlin tearing it up. And maybe... one day... Pat Metheny Group??
Chick Corea would be nice, especially with Bela. I think Arturo Sandoval would fit in well, as far as legends go. And I missed Bill Frissell last year due to him conflicting with Buddy Guy (the one thing I hate about Bonnaroo, so many tough choices), so I would like to see him there again so I could catch his set.

Only what I've read on good old allmusic.com. They call him an avant-garde jazz guy, but his press bio on the Bonnaroo site calls him a blues guy, so I don't know what to expect... gonna have to grab a couple albums.

It just hit me: Jeff Parker is already gonna be there with Tortoise. Why not bring along Rob Mazurek and the rest of the Chicago Underground collective?

Also, jazz fans, definitely check out The Slip. Two of the guys played with Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians and are steeped in jazz. Their current sound with The Slip is all instrumental, jazz-rock. If you are at all a jazz fan, they are not to be missed.

The last time I saw them was Bonnaroo '03, and their set was pretty much entirely instrumental. Havn't heard their new album, so I can't comment on that.

Can't comment either, haven't heard them. But I do hope that we see not just a vaguely jazz-ish group, but a group that really does play solid compositions with lots of inventive soloing and improvisations. I'd be surprised if they asked MMW back, but personally I think they should be brought back to do a special acoustic show. Anything like the Tonic album would be a really great show.
id like to have frisell back. and this time dont put him against another legend like buddy guy. if only i had known that buddy guy would be playing the vibes this year i would have went to frisell.
