I dont know if this is already known, or if its been posted, i've been out of town, but i wouldnt be too suprised if sundays headliner is in an addition, assuming Widespread is indeed playing thursday, and not just listing the begining of the fest. Anyone else agree?
either that or like your vote says...white stripes...maybe roger waters...now that would be a suprise...ill go ahead and vote for the stripes as its more logical...but i hope im wrong
wait I'm lost here, is it offical, documented, or whatever that Widespread is playing Thursday night? I actually expected them to headline Sunday. What did I miss?
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I think to close sunday night they need a classic band that can really WinD it down if you know what i'm sayin, I can't really see the white stripes doing the old "Thank you bonnaroo we love you" over the cymbal roles and fireworks. I could see panic playin sunday and the fourth headliner added for thursday, or vice versa
well i guess id have to go with the whit stripes playing on sunday. thats what their website says. but not as a headliner, wide spread will headline on sunday. look at the past, tradition would dictate wsp(or a band like them) closing it out. although tradition hasnt been playing a large part at roo lately so who knows. i think thats just the listing because its the first day of the fest. i think thursday will be like it was last year. and if wsp does play thursday then i think ratdog should headline sunday. i cant imagine the white stripes closing down roo. im excited to see them but that would be the final nail in the coffin for me. id still go to roo to party and vend things to all the new custies that will be filling the farm. but as far as the greatest fest in the world it would be dead to me!

As it has been said, that 14th mark on websites is probably just a place keeper and general date for the fest itself. Unless they're really going for a Thursday, full day, with a headliner, type situation, the thought of a fourth headliner is fairly unreasonable. Now if we're going by the actual poll question -- if we have another headlining caliber addition to be announced -- sure, that could definitely be a possibility!

i personally don't think its possible for the white stripes to close roo. if they added a band like dylan and the dead or roger waters and dave gilmour i could see it. but if we don't get soemone liek that than wsp will close the fest. thats not to say they won't add someone to healdine thursday (gotta keep my hopes up)
id take mmj over the white stripes. but i still dont see how they are even near big enough to close out roo. id rather have umphreys. they are similar in size of following and are more a part of the festival scene outside of just roo.
Yea, I'm really curious what makes so many of you think they are going to add a Thurs. headliner without letting anyone know whatsoever. Maybe you all have a different opinion of the word headliner than I do, but mine means someone playing on the main stage at 8 pm.
It'd be awesome if Roger Waters closed out Sunday on his Dark Side tour, but looking at his tourdates it doesn't seem likely. Although he has Sunday free, he's going to be on the west coast. That'd be the perfect ending to the weekend though.

Well this is all just assuming that widespread has the date they're playing listed rather then the begining of the fest. Before i saw that i just assumed they were headlining sunday, so they very well still may be.

Ok, just wanted to make sure no one was already assuming this was definitely happening. In fact, if they were to make Thursday into a day like Friday/Saturday, I am absolutely positive they would make a special announcement about that: "Bonnaroo expands to four days with four headliners and three late nights!" Something to that effect.

The White Stripes are huge, my number one must see this year, but I feel they are just a hair below headliner status for roo. I see either the Beck 2006 slot or more likely the Trey 2005 glowstick spot.
well their website says sunday. and id say its nealry impossible for the white stripes to be closing out roo. so im guessing mainstage sunday afternoon.

I think these boards might be a bad representation of the excitment over the white stripes, because i have a feeling a lot of people are a little more musically aware then a lot of the people who attend bonnaroo. If you think about it, they have been on a long hiatus, and have acheived great commercial success, and are indeed a good band. I guess looking at it from a more unbiased point of view i could see them headlining, but sunday still seems a weird day for them. Right now i'm thinking widespread headlines sunday, or its still tbd.
Keep in mind, the White Stripes' Sunday could be subjective. If they're booked for a midnight spot, they could say Sunday but in practicality be playing Saturday night. I think they're too big for that, though, so my guess is pre-headlining Sunday. It's a good way to keep people around. Also, they don't play long enough for a headlining spot.
It would be nice to get a Dead show, but with no tour planned it seems pretty unlikely. I'm still sticking with the three headliner vote, but it is interesting that neither Lesh, Medeski, or Trey are at the fest thus far. Especially after Phil said he'd be back this year, Medeski is a staple and Trey is...trey! Maybe we'll get a Phil & Trey repeat for Sunday night. Even as a pre-headliner for WSP it would be great, but even moreso if they were to take the whole spot.
I agree, It will be one way or the other, and I hope and pray WSP is on Thursday so we can have another incredible Headliner announced. Please God let the Phil Zone prediction be our Sunday Headliner.

I think the White Stripes are a bigger signing than a lot of people are recognizing. This is their first gig in two years. They have had huge commercial success and are one of the most relevant bands in Rock N Roll today. For what it's worth, a lot of news articles (not that they know anymore than we do, really) are reporting The White Stripes as a headliner, possibly out of assumption {http://www.groovevolt.com/Newswires/newswire.asp?ID=2381}, {http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2007/02/1402.cfm}, {http://www.soundgenerator.com/news/showarticle.cfm?articleid=8991&CFID=25291026&CFTOKEN=33015799} [All of those articles mention the White Stripes as a headliner]. But, given the way 'Roo has evolved in the last few years it seems likely that they may be shifting to the Coachella format and using The White Stripes as a big name headliner for Sunday night, pushing WSP to Thursday. A few people have mentioned WSP being the perfect Sunday night headliner because people will begin to leave or what not, but by the same logic they are a perfect Thursday night headliner. Those who don't really care about WSP's set will simply show up later. Also, the Stripes are a big enough name to make Sunday worthwhile, but not so "unmissable" (like the Police or Radiohead) where everyone will want to stick around for them. Just think about it, in nearly all of the media coverage so far for Bonnaroo (barring sites like Jambase) the hype has been attributed to The Police first and foremost, and probably secondly to the Stripes.
Whoo, that was a lot of typing. But, my point is, I would not be surprised to see the Stripes headline Sunday night. They are basically listed in the same slot as Beck last year, and I find them to be a much bigger deal given the circumstances of their commercial relevance and recent hiatus. I believe WSP will be headlining Thursday, and I believe we will get the Stripes for three hours on Sunday night (and if not them then yes an addition like a Phil and superfriends)

the white stripes are deffinatly a big deal but mark my words, bonnaroo will not have them headlining sunday night. they will deffiantly play the mainstage and probobly be a pre-headliner, but they won't headline. if they do i'll buy everyone who said they will headline in this thread a beer
