One of my highlights of 2004 by far. Cut Chemist, Miles, and Egon brought the funk late night. Their weekly Funky Sole night in LA is great as well. Please bring them back to Bonnaroo for another funky soul travelling set!!
That was one of the funnest times I've ever had at Roo. It took me by surprise and it was AMAZING. Best dance party I've ever been to. I wrote the Roo folks last year saying they should book that shit again.
Maybe DJ Shadow will spin a funky set late night this year? Y'all ever the Brainfreeze Breaks album by DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist? It is Funky Sole.

Yep. I flew out to LA last memorial day for this benefit concert in which Cut Chemist and Shadow did their infamous brain freeze set. It was ill!!! At one point shadow was cutting up a 3 inch record. SICK!!

You know that most of the Chemist/Funky Sole set was taped, right? over four hours of it, then the taper ran out of batteries. If anyone wants, I can sendspace it.
I have that recording too. I have listened to it a lot. The only problem is that the bass is jacked up WAY high. I created an iTunes EQ preset called MAD Bass Reducer just for that recording.
But I have made so many copies of that set for so many people. Everyone I play it for is pretty blown away by the incredible tastiness of that set.

Perhaps the best part about that show was how un-crowded it was. I remember ambling back over after Ween finished and there were maybe 75 people in the tent; enough room that a bunch of guys were b-boying. Very chill time.
Almost everyone in that tent was gettin' down so hard and everyone did have so much space. The people that really knew how to dance had found their way over there. I think it is the most below the radar, underrated late night set of any Bonnaroo.
